I have gotten burned too many times by not limiting myself to providers that have good reviews. I was going to TOFTT and see a provider that had no reviews but I reached out for help and it saved me bigtime. The provider had several ads showing her rate of $250 per hour but I found out after setting the time for the appointment that the provider was a big time upseller. In fact the provider wanted an additional $500 per hour just to get the ball rolling. I thought that they might want an additional $100 or $200 but to try and triple their price per hour is scary. I hate asking or emailing questions about things like upselling as your good providers don't do that but in this case I did. I called about an hour before our date to get the address and asked about potential upselling $$$'s. I was shocked by her answer and had to back out. I explained that I had not expected that much and while it was a waste of time for both of us but it could have been worse. I had a provider once in Chicago that only told me about the upsell after she had taken my money and then left when I refused to pay more. I am not going to pay $750/hr for a local provider when I only had to pay that amount to see porn star Stevie a few years ago. Your top providers don't play games like that and they don't have to, they can command and get higher amounts without trickery.
Am I alone in my anger over this or was I wrong to cancel?

help the team by letting others know who tried this major ripoff.

In the narrative part he can tell the story of what happened & it will show up on her reviews for others to see.  Same as reporting as a review a no show or other problems

AJ was right from everything I've ever read. The TER review FAQ says a review must recount a visit with the provider. Where do you come by the info that to "tell the story" of a no show or just a phone call (!) can constitute a review?

But know I have read such reviews somewhere...may actually have been on some other boards where I have read such comments under Reviews.

that she told you over the phone. Isn't it taught in Upselling 101 that you don't tell the victim about upcharges until AFTER they've paid the regular fee? Likewise, if you ask a legitimate provider about extra charges over the phone, she's liable to hang up on you. It's not considered discreet to discuss anything beyond money for time, and that should be spelled out on her ad or website. So, the lesson shouldn't be to rely on this kind of phone call to save yourself from grief. It should be, like you started out saying, to limit yourself to providers that have good reviews.

I am glad you heeded my warning and asked her on the phone ahead of time.  For what it is worth, you can actually negotiate with her, and she is a pretty good time, but sometimes I just don't want to haggle.
