Booking with one lady, getting a "cut throat" rate from another lady or agency, then asking the lady you have booked with to match it "or else" is just plain wrong and a terrible way to do business. Try walking into a nice restaurant, ordering a steak and then when it comes to the table, say you want a lower price than on the menu because restaurant XYZ down the street has a lower price. See how far it will get you.
But I'm glad you put it out there for others to see.
And you are just encouraging these agencies to continue the cut throat and back stabbing. Although I must say you are the first person I heard of that gets scores of calls right up to your arrival with constant price cuts. You must be real special, lol.
Thank goodness I'm an Indy, lol!

so i was reading another thread about this topic from yesterday and was curious if anyone else is experienceing the same thing i have been. i think this may have something to do with the cancellations. i travel alot and normally try to book 3-4 days in advance to avoid any last minute problems. i normally send requests to 2-3 different agencies and indys at a time to see who and whats available. so what ive been getting is numerous emails and phone calls dropping the prices and wanting to know if im looking anywhere else. this normally happens right up until i get there. ive had the original quoted rate almost cut in half in a span of 3 days. so what does a guy do? if ive booked an apointment with "x" then a few hours before "y" calls with an incredible deal? if you give "x" an oppurtunity to match the rate and she passes......whos to blame for the cancellation?
Personally, I am a person that likes to keep their word. For me personally, I would honor the original appt. However, this is "pay to play" and as such I know that most hobbyist will view this more on the business side. If you can get someone for 200 an hour or someone for 300 an hour, many guys will go for the 200 an hour girl.
As far as who is to blame, since you did setup the appt and agree to the original terms, it really still falls on you.
i agree since you did set up the appt it does fall on you, it is your right to cancel but i think we fail to realize most providers will still have respect for you if you cancel in a timely manner even though you can't predict what will happen right before your scheduled appt. As he also said it is pay to play and who's to say you won't get better service from an appt with x at $300.00 versus an appt with y at $200.00 sometimes less isn't always better.
agencies especially change appointments constantly....different girl....different time....etc. my point here was this...i think part of the problem with the rash of cancellations lately is girls and agencies are negotiateing rates on the fly and cutting the prices drastically to steal business from each other. i know for a FACT that is happening. so what happens if your 300 an hour girl calls a couple hours before your supposed to meet the 200 an hour girl and says she will take 160?
i see your point i cant say for sure how the agencies compete against one another i don't deal with a lot of different ones myself it's only two in raleigh that i deal with and they both do ok by me. my thing is this if you made an appt with the 200.00 girl and the 300.00 calls offering a special it goes back to what i said before you get what u pay for. if you know the 200.00 and 300.00 girls are both worth the money then i guess you choose what better suits your pockets but if you do cancel on the 200.00 still call enough time ahead she may have a back up ready and waiting for the time slot you booked
I understand looking for a deal. Having said that I feel very strongly that if I make a commitment I need to honor it. Call me silly, but I think dad was right on this one. Honoring your commitments is part of being a man.
You state you try to book 2-3 days in advance, then get a tremendous counter offer a mere 2 hours before an appointment. At that point, I think its too late to cancel. Your date has most likely already made arrangements, possibly checked into her hotel, may have passed up on another possible appointment to honor yours, etc. She has incurred expenses and its incumbent on you to honor the appointment that YOU initiated. Canceling a full day ahead is another matter altogether, but 2 hours?
Put it another way, suppose you've rearranged your day and are already on the road to go meet someone and she cancelled on you so close to the appointment because she got a better offer from another client for more money. Wouldn't you be pissed if she then asked you if you'd be willing to pay more to match the offer, or just cancelled without explanation at that point?
thats a fair question but my suspicion is it doesnt happen much where as girls cutting the fee is way more likely. i see no problem in asking the original girl to match the rate....and if she refuses or doesnt at least offer to discount shes costing herself business. this happens every day in every other retail business. all in all what ive been getting at is theres complaining about a recent rash of cancellations and i thing a large part of the reason is girls are getting cut-throat with negotiating
