For those that didn't read DC's moderating message, I think it's worth a look.  He & I have spent a good deal of time discussing the theories of moderating, and we're pretty much in agreement.

Regional boards are a little different, but as a governing principle, I'd still rather let the kids play and have fun, with the occasional trip to the emergency room, instead of padding the walls to be preemptively safe.

moderators do a bang-up job keeping us out of trouble. They have a thankless task, one that I surely don't want. Anytime someone wants to torch a moderator for doing his job, I suggest they throw their hat into the ring and see how it feels. Bravo Zulu!!  (That's Navy-talk for "Well Done!!!)))

Actually, I think that there WAS some padding, but it's in need of replacement.  Since the economy is in the crapper, no money for new padding.

BTW, don't forget Lakeboy in the hug-fest.  I'm the loud mouthed asshole mod, but he's carrying his fair share of the work too.

I can only imagine the crap you deal with. Thank both you Phil and Lakeboy for all you do! You both rock!!!
