Question about moderation

If I make a post (yes I'm unmoderated) and then do an immediate edit, why does the post go the que of posts that have to be approved?  Seems like the system should realise that it's still from an unmoderated poster.

All edited posts, even moderators, must be approved.

Your moderation status is irrelevant. This is a system response and has been in place for a few years as best as I can remember.

Nothing personal, we all have to deal with it.
