Sorry for the late reply, but I shit you not, St John's is not a place you need to hobby in.  The locals are more than willing to be a sure bet at the bars.  Just be aggressive.  I started traveling there years ago, and asked a few buddies, and they all said the same thing.  Go to a bar, and ask an ye shall receive.  I've taken at least 15 plus trips over 5 years, and I've only not got laid twice.  Only city in the world that I've been that allowed that to happen.
