Planning a trip to Toronto and trying to choose between these to hotels. Can anyone provide any input?

I have been envied to visit someone there and in case of the hotel choice comes up I might know what to suggest x

While I am not familiar with the Grand Hotel, I have stayed at the Fairmont several times.  It has a great location, wonderful service, and is hobby friendly.  The rooms vary greatly in size and amenities.  The basic rooms are small, but well appointed. I highly recommend the Club Level rooms as they are larger and have been more recently updated.  The Club level amenities (breakfast, hors devours, happy hour, late night dessert) are awesome.

I have never been to those hotels but I visit Toronto regularly and I can suggest a few...just PM me

If you're going to see ladies, I would suggest the Fairmont because the lobbies are large and it's easy for people to slip in and out without too much fuss.  The lobby of the Grand Hotel is small and the concierge sees everyone who comes into the hotel.  
Both hotels need to update their decor, however they are great for a casual vacation if your tastes don't lean towards luxury hotel territory.  

Fairmont:
-great central location
-larger hotel
-decor and furniture needs an update

Grand:
-location not in the nicest of areas
-nicer rooms
-smaller hotel and thus smaller lobb
