Hi folks! So what is "legal" in Toronto?

I understand there are much less restrictions than in the states. Can anyone be a little more explicit such as initials that work here without any concern? Thanks

Okay, this is my understanding so if I'm incorrect I'd appreciate if someone could point out where I'm wrong.

What's illegal in this country is:

a) "communication for the purposes of prostitution" - obviously targetted more at streetwalking than the escort business, although there was an attempt by the police to lay charges against a magazine for the many explicit escort ads it contained.  THe case failed, but the ads are now less explicit.  This communication has to take place in a public place, which includes telephone and the internet.

b) "keeping a common bawdy house" - and don't you love that pre-Victorian lingo??  THis is obviously about brothels, but can also apply to an independent doing incalls.  The law was upheld in charges against a Toronto dominatrix, by the way, for keeping a dungeon where no actual intercourse took place.

It's not illegal to be a prostitute or escort, and it's not illegal per se to exchange money for sexual services.  So, for instance, if I invited a gentleman to my private residence for a drink and during the course of the evening he offered me money for sex, nothing illegal is taking place.  Outcalls tend to be preferred since the part that takes place at "your" location is also perfectly legal.

My observation in terms of law enforcement is that they don't go looking for escorts or even agencies, they tend to act on specific complaints.  Maybe once a year or every couple of years there's a big splashy arrest, mostly involving underage girls, and things like guns and drugs.  The Toronto Police Force just got some extra funds to look into child pornography on the internet, and I believe they're including underage escorts in their scrutiny, but again they seem to be only looking for certain elements.

Anyway, I hope that helps a bit.  The Canadian public tends not to get excited about "morals" issues, we certainly don't have the kind of organized and well funded religious rightwing that exists in the US, so LE follows suit as a rule.  The city of Windsor, Ontario, (just across from Detroit,) as a matter of fact, issues licences to escorts just like they do to any other private professional practice.

That was a truly informative response and, being a downstate new yorker, can appreciate the utter stupidity of motals issues in the US! Certainly makes me want to visit our friends up north far more often for many new and wonderful reasons:):)

We hobbyists should keep in mind when posting Toronto reviews that some revelations might be of interest to the RCMP.
They and other Canadian LE snoop on review boards I am told, while devouring massive quantities of donuts.

So, I tend to say the encounter was always outcall, because there are potential legal problems with incall and the bawdy house law.

If the encounter took place in a spa, I never report bj or fs because that could get the spa closed.

Some spa girls will see you later or the next day outcall, so that is legit and the best way to have an encounter without unnecessary risk, except for getting your brains scr*wed out.

There are a number of "incall" locations across the country. Arguably they are illegal but when they are kept low profile or only being run by a single escort no one really cares about how much "godless fornication" takes place in private.

The LE here does take a hard look at child porn and underage providers which frankly most of us support them in.

Vancouver's new Mayor has spoken out about establishing a Amsterdam style red light district to eliminate street prostitution and separate the sex trade from the drug scene. He is to be commended for his progressive attitude.
