The Back Bay/Copley Square area are the most convenient and also have the most to do around them, but the hotels are the most costly, though there are some places that are not too bad.  Try Priceline  for a 3 1/2 star and you should get a good deal as this is not the busiest time of year for Boston.

Other areas that are nice are the Theater District and the North End.  Cambridge is nice too, and nearby.

Some gals also find luck in the Metrowest area along Rte 128 (or I-95 as it is now known), especially in the Waltham/Newton area.

Stay away from the Northern suburbs, especially Woburn as LE is very active there.
