I've seen several providers who have profiles on some of the adult dating and/or sugarbaby sites (or both), and to be honest, I was a bit surprised to find them there.
At first I didn't think much of it. Providers have private lives too and surely need to find eligible guys to date just like a civvie girl would. Being in the profession that they are in, a sugardaddy or FWB situation would allow a provider to fulfill an emotional need for companionship without having to disclose too much of her personal life.
Then I thought that perhaps there was more to the story. From my perspective, providing and being a sugarbaby is basically the same thing. They're kind of kissing cousins I guess, but there is a major difference: Providers attract clients who know the rules (usually) and understand that they are buying an unemotional fantasy for a certain pre-arranged period of time, and sugarbabies enter into exclusive relationships with civvie men for compensation and a fair amount of emotional exchange. Therefore, a sugardaddy might not know those rules, and may not even realize that he's getting involved with a "professional". So, a rather murky ethical situation could develop involving a "professional" and a civvie, and in these situations the "professional" definitely has the upper hand and could exploit the emotional side of the situation.
Is it honest for a provider to look for extended relationships on Sugardaddy sites? I feel like a provider representing herself as a sugarbaby is disingenuous, but I'm curious what others think.
On the other hand, a FWB situation usually doesn't involve any compensation, just an exchange of unbridled sexuality and perhaps some playful companionship to pass the dreary days (one would hope, anyway).
