Some guy is using me as a reference and I get emails from providers asking about him. He tells them the same thing- that he saw me within the last week. I haven't even seen any clients for a couple weeks let alone this guy. I don't even have any initial inquiries from him.
I always respond to the girls but I'm really starting to get annoyed. Should I email him and ask what his deal is or tell these girls to RUN away as fast as they can

I suppose its possible he has you mixed up with somebody else, since he keeps doing it.  OTOH, if the guy is up to no good, got to weed out the baddies, so we are all safe.

Later you can clear up any issues with the guy, but protect the gals now.

also contact this gent and ask what's up. Also I would reply to each provider who is requesting a reference with a link to this thread and what you've told us here.

Didn't even think of that. I'll definintely do that.  

You never said whether you remembered him or if you recall him being a good client or not. It seems to me that might make a big difference in how to best handle the situation. If you have no recollection of him you would be well advised to take drastic action. If he was a client and a good one, contacting him to clear up the discrepancies before alerting the ladies might be the proper response.

So contacting him and letting him know might stop all the reference requests.

But then he might just pick out another lady and do the same thing.

If she's never met him, then he needs to be reported on verification sites.

If the emails contain a photo of him and say he's a fireman with a Tasmanian Devil tattoo (yes, I know, CLASSY) and bla bla bla, he's been pulling this shit for years. It's actually him writing the emails. The ladies seeking a reference don't actually exist. He pulled it on me last week.  

I have never met this man nor has he ever contacted me for a date. That's why I'm so bothered by this. I don't know this guy.

The only thing I would like to add. If this is the gentleman in question and if there is away where you could post his name for all providers to see it might help other providers in the future.  Also just  a  crazy thought is there anyway he might be LE. Trying to ID providers?

This man has been doing same thing with me. Latest was 10/24 , 4th time. Same story...says he saw me within past couple days. I gave girls quick response that I HAVE NEVER MET him. He continues to list me. Added him to verify him yesterday and the other well known list. Celtic cross tattoo and tazmanian/firefighter tattoo. Girl had a website and was on a popular advertising board that asked me for reference. Log onto verify him for full report but yes, total goofball!

....I wouldn't even address him or initiate any contact with him.
Hopefully ladies will be smart and continue to check their references and just warn them as they contact you.  I'm on the fence about recommending you blacklist the balls out of him tho.

Perhaps he actually thinks he saw you.  
I would at least give him the benefit of an e-mail first.

Not only screening for LE, but also bad clients/robbers/thugs who know how the referral system works.

He's not LE. Just some dong who plays weird email games. We already know his real name and it's everywhere. Like I said, that idiot is notorious.
