YES- A guy or a girl can transmit the herpes virus from a 'BBBJ.' Exactly why I don't understand why anyone would pay a professional for unsafe oral sex. If 70% of Americans have been exposed to the HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus)- I wonder what the stats are on sex workers? Doesn't sound like a safe bet to me, exactly why I offer sensual massage- ONLY!

I've done a bit of research on this the last time I freaked out and thought I had herpes (I do not have it, btw, lol).

Anyways, as you probably know there are two types of herpes viruses, HSV1 and HSV2. HSV2 usually infects the genitals and HSV1 usally infects the mouth.

About 20% of Americans have HSV2 (and most never know) and about 70% have HSV1. HSV1 is what we call a cold sore and it's so ridiculously common (you can get it from a kiss), it is pretty much pointless trying to avoid it. HSV2 is a bit more annoying.

Now, there is a reason why these two different viruses are found only in specific parts of the body. HSV1 doesn't infect the genital area too readily and HSV2 doesn't infect the oral area readily. In fact, HSV2 infections in the mouth are pretty much unheard of. And in the few cases that are known, recurring outbreaks are even rarer.

So pretty much what you need to worry about is an HSV1 (oral herpes) infection in the genital region from receiving unprotected oral sex. It as said that these days perhaps as much as 30% of genital herpes outbreaks are actually HSV1 and not HSV2. The good news is that only 2-5% of the recurring outbreaks are HSV1. So basically, while HSV1 in the genital region isn't that uncommon, it is very unlikely to recur (namely, you'll get one outbreak and that's it).

Honestly, I'd be more worried about herpes from having protected vaginal sex than unprotected oral sex. Condoms are not as effective against herpes as they are against other STDs (it only takes skin-to-skin contact of which there is usually some as the condom doesn't cover the whole genital region.

Typical transmission for herpes I is a coldsore. I never had one but they look painful.
But I went to my GYN to ask about it and she said I was weird. Apparently, most of the population gets them when they get sick. And it shows in blood work. I asked why I was weird and she said even she has it and I didn't have it. It's a fact of life. Luckily not one I need to deal with but again looks like it's painful.
But always be smart, safe, and aware. If you shave and nicked something you can open yourself up for any problem.
Just saying...

@ goseph: If I may kindly correct you sir, there are actually five different types of Herpes viruses. Unfortunately, the Herpes(Simplex) virus is just one of the five. Herpes(Varicella) virus a.k.a. the Chicken Pox is another.

I once worked a while in dermatology. Between the patients that would come in to the office to get a quick ‘scrip for some Zovirax upon feeling an outbreak coming on and some of the older patients who suffered extreme pain from Shingles/Herpes(Zoster) virus, I learned quite a bit.

Anyway……In order to actually prescribe the meds to these patients, we’d have to perform tests to confirm the diagnosis even if we didn’t get results same day. This entailed either swabbing/scraping the infected area for epithelial’s and/or fluid and then looking at whatever you got off of the swab/blade under a microscope once the cultures came back from the lab. HSV1 & HSV2 are practically identical when viewed under a microscope. The most important distinction between the two is where they decide to hang out within one’s body. HSV1 typically likes to hang out in a group of nerve cells near the ear and HSV2 hangs out in nerve cells near the base of the spine. Atypical cases like herpes of the finger aside, the typical rule of thumb here – Neck and above:HSV1, Waist and below: HSV2.

Ive noticed that there seems to be a misconception that HSV1 is not as bad as HSV2 simply because “cold sore” sounds less shameful and much more palatable than “genital lesion”. But that’s a hard sell to someone who’s lost their eye due to some shit like Ocular Herpes. I dunno…both seem equally as bad as the other to me.

extremely unlikely. Although it is possible to get other STDs that way.

I am very much disturbed by men even having to ask this question. Why would you put your mouth on a sex worker's genitals, where who knows how many other men had their penises that day? If someone is gonna let you "DATY" for an additional 20 bucks, then guess what else they'd consider doing?

My clients don't want that dirty stuff, and that's why they value my service, as there is NO possibility of transmitting disease. (And I don't have to worry about getting HIV.)

There is absolutely no connection between provider's doing DATY and provider's doing bareback.  There are plenty of providers out there who do daty who would never, ever, ever, do bareback.  And, I know a few providers, not on this board, who will do have full-on unprotected sex with just about anyone for a few extra bucks who won't do daty.

Just because someone does one, doesn't mean they do the other.
You do know that women who give massages for money are also willing to provide sex for money too, right?  I mean there are hundreds of massage parlors around that offer full service, many even make the news when they get busted.   Should people assume that because you massage people you also have sex with them?  It's not different than assuming that because a woman does daty she also does bareback sex.
