People are coming out in record #s even in the snow and tough weather conditions.

I went to the polling booth and only saw Brown sign holders. Where are the Coakley fair weather supporters?

Go B R O W N

Two things Brown is against:

(1) universal health care.
(2) better regulation/oversight of finance industry.

Universal health care w/ a public option is the only way to reign in health spending, just ask any other developed country.

A financial industry that was increasingly deregulated is what got us into this economy clusterfuck, aka recession, in the first place...

So you've had "enough of the madness in Washington"?
The "madness" of stimulus spending to get us out of the recession? The "madness" to try to bring the wars in Irak and Afganisthan to a responsible conclusion? The "madness" of trying to provide health care for every American, not just the ones that can afford it, or are lucky enough to get it through their employer?

If you think you should vote for Scott Brown because you had "enough of the madness in Washington", then you are just.... DUMB?

I really, really hope that somehow people in Massachusetts come to their senses and vote on the issues.

And, btw, many of the "Brown" supporters you see out are "tea-baggers" from all over the country who have converged on the state.

my polling place was packed this morning, never seen a line so long.

The Coakley signholders all had to leave, as Red Sox fans were throwing baseballs at them!

Wow another intelligent Coakley/Obama supporter. I guess the smear campaign continues. This is just the beginning, now that the Coakley supporters realize she has lost the seat, all the classless Democrats will continue what she started. She decided to run a dirty campaign and it absolutely backfired on her. If this Obama plan is so great, then why all the late night backroom deals? You may want to pay better attention to what's going on in Afghanistan. If Brown supporters are Dumb, then what the hell do you call someone who can't spell Iraq? My guess would be Complete Moron. That stimulus package is doing wonders creating jobs though isn't it? If Brown is such a "tea-bagger" than why is your boy Obama scared to death of him? I guess Sunday was just another wasted trip for Obama. One more thing, how's that whole approval rating thing working out for the man who promised change? Only 1094 more days of this debacle.

I just adore all the fucking "change" that Obama got elected on (and with all the non-teabaggers from MA invading NH to flood the polls and to VOTE when they were able to get away with it.

The only "change" I've seen is the little change left in my pocket after Obama has spent the rest of MY fucking money (and, BTW, where exactly was he born?)

J37 I hate to say this but you really must have a difficult time walking around with that periscope sticking out of your ass.

WAKE UP!! The federal government, all most of the state goverments as well, ALL need to be overhauled but right now we have to stop the steam roller that the current admin is trying to jamb down (legally and/or illegally) this country's throat.

85% of this country likes our current health care and doesn't want a federally run program (they can't even run themselves how can they be expected to run anything elde?). This "plan" of his does indeed offer free healthcare to EVERYONE (even when you aren't a citizen and have never contributed anything to society).

soxwin:
- Sorry for spelling Ira(q/k) in a different language (but not sorry for having the perspective of having lived in other countries).
- What exactly makes my pointing out two important things that Brown is against a "smear campaign"?
- Stimulus: Most economists agree that it helped soften the blow of the recession.
- Lastly, Obama is not my "boy", asshole.

nhted:
- change: Ultimately it is the legislative branch, congress, that effects change, not the president. You might recall that Republicans were invited to participate by the Democrat majorities in both house/senate, but have been nothing but obstructionists. The only goal of Republicans in congress seems to be to see Obama fail... (talk about "not contributing anything to society".)
- MA residents "flooding the polls" and voting in NH? Come on, get real... you can't just show up and vote, not even in NH.
- "where exactly was Obama born" - you've got to be kidding... you're one of those?
- "85% of this country likes our current health care" (you did a poll?) This is wrong, BS. Of course the more you falsely scare people about how bad universal health care would be, the more people will say they like what they have (even if it isn't much). The Unites States is the only developed country where people have to file bankruptcy because of medical bills.
- "free health care to everyone": preventative health care is less expensive than trying to cure someone after they got sick, or than acute/emergency care. Why do you think your health insurance gladly pays for your gym membership? So maybe "free health care to everyone" is not such a bad idea. If someone who is in this country gets sick, we end up paying for it anyway. If you decide to ride your motorcycle without a helmet and injure your head, all of us end up paying for it through higher premiums. We are all in the same boat.

augustwest/pwilley:
"The Coakley signholders all had to leave, as Red Sox fans were throwing baseballs at them!"
???
The people you are talking about are obviously too fucking stupid to distinguish between sports and politics. You seem to think this is funny and count yourselves among them.
Sox vs. Yankees? Yeah, that will get you health care and prevent the next financial meltdown...

Lowest common denominator: "This is my truck" wins votes, a goof re. Sox vs. Yankees loses votes. Help!

Cogent points, my friend, and merely the tip of the iceberg.

But you're never going to reason with these people. They don't vote based on rationality or logic, they vote on something akin to faith.

" I just adore all the fucking "change" that Obama got elected on ? "

Dude, it's been what, a YEAR?   Do you really expect a new president to turn around a listing supertanker of a nation in such little time?

Considering all the damage Bush and his minions did to this country, you need a little bit of patience.  Especially when Obama is fighting Republicans in a Congress and Senate whose sole mission isn't to help the country but to DESTROY THE OTHER PARTY.

...unfortunately, the great commonwealth of Massachusetts has decided to fuck the rest of the country up for some seriously misguided reasons. Ironically, Massachusetts appears to be enjoying the best healthcare system in the country with over 94% coverage and yet it has managed to deny the rest of the country the same rights!

You know, there is an old saying: You usually get what you deserve! I am afraid we have some tough times ahead for this country!

First of all Massachusetts ranks 7th in Healthcare, but why let the facts get in the way of a good Liberal Lie.
Second of all Healthcare is not a right. Why should I have to be taxed 40% so people who have never contributed to the system can be covered? Why in the world should I pay for an Illegal Alien to be covered. Socialism does not work. Why doesn't Obama do something for the people who don't have jobs in this country, you know like he promised to before he got elected.
If Healthcare reform is so great, then why is Obama's approval rating among Democrats going down on a weekly basis? People are finally realizing that they have been lied to, and are still being lied to, that's why. Americans have had enough, and Obama is about to find that out the hard way.
This is going to be a Great Victory for America, and a serious wake up call/kick in the ass for Barack Obama.

Being from NH, I've witnessed all the Mass refugees moving up here to escape the democrat tax/spend agenda only to continue voting democrat while here. So I think it's great that a Republican has won a seat in MA. And not just any seat, Ted F'in Kennedy's seat!
Stick that in your hat 'Bama

Now, lemme see.

You have the choice between a machine-politician Democrat who never saw a tax she didn't like and a Republican who has corrupted himself in advance in his slavish devotion to the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate lobbies.

You have a choice between a Democrat who will support Obama's continuation of Bush's war policies (including the neo-con notion of "remaking the Middle East"); and a Republican who will support the exact same policies only with slightly more bellicose rhetoric. Pay attention. Even under Obama there is NO plan for a complete withdrawal of our troops. Both Obama and Bush favored an indefinite presence just like we have in Korea. Same crap, different words.

You have a choice between a Democrat who will support using government to steal my money and use it to pay for other's healthcare; and a Republican who will steal my money and give it to people richer than me. They don't differ on whether or not it is okay to put a gun to my head and take what I earn. They only differ on who should get it and how much.

Am I making my point?

When in the hell are people going to wake up and realize that Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same corrupt coin; and BOTH sides are anathema to FREEDOM?

Look at the Open Secrets website, and you'll find a lot of the biggest contributors to Democrats are among the biggest contributors to Republicans.

Wake up already and realize this is a sham. It's just bread and circuses. It's a pretend fight.

When are people going to wake up? Don't worry. I can answer that question. They won't.

Enjoy voting for tweedledum or tweedledummer.

If I had to choose, I'd choose Brown. Mainly because he has less experience at theft. But I have no doubt he'll catch on quickly.

> It's a pretend fight.

Absolutely.

Clowns on "both" sides have conspired together to knick away at our freedoms.  And the offenses are becoming more and more egregious, so instead of knicking, they are slashing.

And you know what else?  They've convinced you that there are only two choices.

Our founding fathers are turning in their graves right now.

We need a Ron Paul type of leader in Massachusetts.

Thanks j37, for pointing out that the inmates have taken over the asylum, particularly the moron who thinks its funny that Red Sox fans were throwing baseballs at Coakley supporters.  What a great country we live in.  Does anyone who voted for Brown know anything about what he actually stands for?

At one point there was a lady who was running for Senate on a libertarian platform -- Carla Howell.

Just imagine!  April 19th -- the shot heard round the world.

Men stood their ground in the face of a superior force that day and died.

All so their distant progeny could sacrifice freedom to the god of unjust plunder?

Sick. They'd be PUKING in their graves.

I can't believe that this website is having a discussion like this when all I really want to talk about is what provider I have to see next, but the arguments that I see here don't seem to make any sense.  For example, what do you mean that Massachusetts is ranked 7th in healthcare?  According to what standard?  If you rank states by the percentage of people covered by health insurance, Massachusetts has the highest percentage - that makes Massachusetts ranked first in some people's view.  But maybe you mean that Massachusetts ranks 7th in some other category.  Why don't you enlighten us as to exactly what you mean?

And why shouldn't we have universal health care? Without it, 18,000 Americans unnecessarily die each year, solely because they lack health insurance.  There are 33 countries on this planet that are recognized as "developed" countries, and of those 33 countries, only one country, the U.S.A., lacks universal health care.  And please note that universal health care does not mean government-run health care as many of the developed countries are able to reach universal health insurance coverage with both private and public insurance, as is the case with all versions of the pending health insurance reform legislation in Congress.  Our present system fails to cover millions of our fellow citizens and provides inferior care to what other countries provide.  How can anyone defend that?

And if you want citations or footnotes for the factual assertions that I make here, just ask and I'd be pleased to send them to you.
