Hello ladies and gents,
I am visiting Boston next month for the first time.
Which is a best area to stay?I am not asking anyone to post publically hotels just wondering what is a good area.
Some mention Downtown/Backbay and others have mentioned Waltham,Newton?
Any info would be greatly appreciated it.
Thank you

Those that prefer intown may say Backbay or Financial district.

Then there are those of us who have to drive and park.  Suburbs are preferred such as Waltham, Newton, Burlington, Woburn...to name a few.

Looking forward to seeing you.

City clients will drive to Waltham if they really want to see you. So will clients from other burbs. But it's more difficult, esp in this weather, for clients to find parking in the city. Plus, hotels are generally cheaper and ask fewer questions.

I'm one of many who can only "date" in the context of an at-the-office work day, so downtown Boston is really more of a requirement for me than a preference.  My personal preference is for an incall near the Financial District or Faneuil Hall area, but Back Bay is acceptable. Anything in the suburbs is just not possible.

Thanks for asking!

Pzrking in downtown is expensive .. also driving g in can take an extra hour.. suburbs like Waltham, Newton.. tend to draw from both north & south shore..also free & plentiful parking .. predictable commute.

Personally.. Quincy/Braintree is also OK

Please do search "Neighborhood" [all these words] and impposter  [author] on the Boston board. You will get a lot of discussions of "where to stay".  Those threads are mostly about downtown, but sometimes include the 'burbs (Waltham, Newton, Woburn, ...).
.
You will also get maps of the Boston neighborhoods that will help YOU navigate and help your guests to navigate to find you ("I'm at the ABC Hotel." Huh? What? Where? "I'm in Back Bay." Got it!) ... and maybe make you sound like a local.  The inset (far right) in the map below is a blow up of the unlabeled sections between Back Bay - Fort Point - Charlestown.
.
There are some odd names and incongruities but don't despair. The South END is NOT South Boston. West Roxbury is NOT Roxbury. There are TWO "waterfront districts": (1) The Aquarium on the downtown side and (2) The Convention Center on the seaport side.  East Boston is also where Logan Airport is but referred to as "Airport" (if you're at an airport hotel).
.
Back Bay is very popular and convenient. Within the Back Bay blob is "Copley" or "Copley Square" but not specified on the map.
.
Pretty much everything on the map is easy to get to by public transit (subways).
.
Suburbs: Except for Newton, they can only be easily reached by car. Not a lot of sightseeing unless you like looking at miles of 8-lane highways.  Some people like Waltham because it is the intersection of the Mass Pike (US 90) which runs E-W and Rt 128 = US 95 which runs N-S at Waltham but makes a loop around Boston: fast, easy access from all directions.
.
Have a great trip!

Waltham, best location hands down.  Waltham has Proximity to downtown but easy to get to from the suburbs (west, north and south).  Downtown is Boston is a PITA.

Waltham, hands down. Plenty of hotels with parking to choose from with direct major highway access.
