when hysteria reigns, it's very easy for the innocent to get caught up and punished along with the bad actors.
Also, we represent a soft target for LE. The real baddies have guns and such, we for the most part don't. So you can go after armed baddies or bust unarmed gals. The pay's the same. And you get good press either way.
They'll probably find a way to tie the opiate crisis to sex work also. People just nod and assume we're all druggies too. The real reason is that they have come down hard on doctors for trying to treat their patients' pain. So of course those people are going to go after the much more dangerous street opiates. I guess they forgot about that now.

It wasn't all that long ago that The State tried to control what Healey could do in her bedroom because such relationships weren't Puritan enough. And MA is pretty much on the leading edge of recognizing the rights of individuals to carry on activities between consenting adults.
I am 100% against trafficking. I wish Healey would acknowledge the HUGE difference between trafficking and what goes on between CONSENTING ADULTS. To hope that she would go as far as to support decriminalization to free up resources to fight REAL problems might be going too far
