That people were taking pics of the damage from Irene rather than the leaves as the colors were muted.

Just so happens that Momma Kuada is coming at the end of the month. I probably should take her to see whatever caused hotel prices to TRIPLE.
I'm thinking about doing a "foliage tour". Any recs?

and mostly bare trees.

This is the peak weekend to peek at the leaves in Mass.

A trip west on Route 2 is a convenient and pleasing ride.

The weekend after a trip down to Connecticut would be nice.  I-84 to Hartford is a nice ride.

Take Mama K for a nice drive up 95 to Portsmouth or Kittery there are still plenty of leaves on the trees. The color isn't even prime in Portland yet. Take her for a drive and some seafood it isn't far up the coast to Kittery and the shopping is great. The old streets of downtown Portsmouth are beautiful and it would make for a wonderful relaxing day trip. You will both really enjoy it and have a wonderful time.

Xoxo,

The extra rain we received in New England and the warmer weather have caused a slight delay in the leaves turning.  You'll see the peak in Mass this week into next week (depending on whether you are in northern or southern mass or in the Berkshires).  In CT, you'll see the peak starting the end of next week into the week of 10/23.  By Halloween, the only leaves left will be oak trees, which are a nice shade of tan.

Not sure where Mom is from, but if it's Florida or the southwest, she won't notice the difference.  Good luck and enjoy.

I FINALLY get it! On this cold rainy NY morning, I did the Walkway over the Hudson. .... (dramatic pause)... I have no words to express how beautiful those hills were. For some reason it made me all misty eyed and patriotic?!? I think I was thinking of the lyrics of 'America the Beautiful'.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

I highly recommend. PLEASE let there be leaves when Mom gets here!
