A TV is a transvestite - a person who likes to cross-dress. A male transvestite lives his life as a man but likes to dress as a woman whenever possible.

A TS is a transsexual - a person who believes he/she was born with the wrong genitalia. A male transsexual wants to be a woman in every aspect, and may use clothing, makeup, hair removal, hormones, and sexual reassignment surgery to achieve that end.
