There is a shortage of hotel rooms in Boston and has been for many years.  The only real slow season for this city is in the dead of winter.  The rest of the time rooms are generally at a premium.  One of my favs has had very good luck with Price Line's "hot deals" hotels (just under $100 a day, in the city) but the hotel you get is probably not going to be in the busiest part of town.  If you want business from the guys who are in town the price line option is still better than going to the burbs.  That being said, a lot of guys prefer the suburbs over going into the city.  I've known girls who spent a few days downtown and a few in the suburbs during a visit.

Some one tell why when and how to book a decent hotel in Boston that is not going to break me. :( and does anyone suggest Waltham or wakefild ?for a secondary place to get a hotel?

......if you're looking at those 'Express Deals' and sometimes it depends on the time of day you go to look. Best deal I ever saw for like a 3* in back bay (or boston commons I forget) was about 115 or something before tax (for a weekday) but never a deal near that low again lol. Usually it's about 170+/NT.  Might be better to try NYOP (name your own price).

I find Hotwire the best way to get a great room at a cheap price. I've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels for a third of the going rate. The only issue is it doesn't give you a specific hotel till you buy it. But once you choose your area a d stick to 4 and 5 star hotels, it's pretty easy to figure which one it would be before you buy.
