I started hobbying in late 2004, before getting my first cellphone.  The wife had wanted one for some time, so we got one to share.

After about two months I realized it would be better to have two phones, and bought a second phone.

The first call to my favorite agency at that time I was told the number (my new number) belonged to a former client who had been banned...and they hung up on me.  It took a few more calls and a lot of persistance to explain the situation.

What are the odds?  That client must have dumped that # just before I got it.  I still have the same number and the woman that spiked me will probably read this post and remember.

Just read a thread below about a lady getting a new number. Got me thinking, someone someday will get her old number !! Imagine how often ladies change their numbers and all those unsuspecting new phone recipients getting strange calls at all hours of the day. Try to explain that one to the wife !

Just a thought......

I never thought of that when I changed my number, I wass always a late night person so I am sure whoever got my old number had a lot of expaining to do!

Over a decade ago I used to sell cellular phones (remember CellOne?) and while I was working there they had a mandatory holding time on a number before re-assigning it. However while I was there it went from 1 year down to 6 months. Now with the various carriers and the overlapping area codes, God knows what the holding period is now. Anyone on this board still in the industry? I'd love to know the holding period on numbers after they have been let go.
