From what I read what's being enacted in Maine is the "Nordic model". Selling is decriminalized but buying is still a crime. That approach is better than nothing but doesn't go far enough. Decriminalize it all.

It’s only a partial decriminalization; it eliminates the crime of engaging in it but it’s still not legal to buy it. The law is meant to help victims of sex trafficking and forced prostitution.

Obviously discretion and subtlety still remain paramount but I would think women feel slightly better about everything.
