If it was straight prostitution by willing employees, I think the state is getting away with something here. Twisting the law to accomplish it's own ends.

If every crime can be twisted to be called a different crime to justify a more harsh sentence....
(Would be like lumping all drug crimes together as the same offense.)

Then is this really a justice system or just a political game system?

I am surprised the state is getting away with manipulating the legal system to the degree it has if this is another case of calliing any organized prostitution occurrence, "Human trafficking". The ends do not justify the means when it comes to our legal system.

Not only LE but most folks in general look upon sex for sale as something done by desperate women who are controlled by pimps or "trafficked".  No one outside of our hobby thinks it's possible that a woman could engage in prostitution voluntarily, make a lot of money at it, and be in control.

Were these girls being trafficked?  Well, ultimately that will be decided at a trial but the trial most likely won't make the headlines the way the bust did.

Until someone stands up publicly to say this is BS, that we don't need to waste police and court resources on this it will continue.

Does anyone care to guess how much the Kennybunk 'investigation' has already cost? Maybe they will get some revenue for tax evasion, but the few hundred dollar fines won't cover any of the court costs...

I don't think anyone is implying that human trafficking is even a possibility in the Zumba case.

What we ARE talking about in the Boston area AMPS busts is an entirely different story.  Any time you have a large number of women being moved around from different locations for the purposes of selling sex the possibility exists that some or all of them were doing it against their will.  Yes, it needs to be investigated.  Any possible human rights violation needs to be investigated.
