Boston

This bust DOES illustrate something important

Now, we all know that both cops AND newspapers lie. So what is described here might not even have the slightest resemblance to reality.

But, if we take it at face value; this woman was a caretaker for a bedridden 92 year old lady; and was basically bringing clients into the house for sex with the bedridden lady in the next room and unable to complain.

I'm not saying the escort should have been arrested for prostitution. She should not have, because that should be legal.

But it seems straightforward (again, assuming the details are correct) that she should have been charged with elder neglect.

This story is over a month old. It has been in the papers and on the news. FYI, indie girls are much more of a target in the Boston area than agency girls are.

Read the papers, it's pretty obvious.

When the law under which a person is being prosecuted is believed to be unjust by a substantial portion of the population; those chosen for prosecution will disproportionately manifest attributes *other than that crime* with which the general public will be unsympathetic.

In newbie training, I learned it was the other way around - that LE targets agencies because of the huge database of clients/providers they can capture.

So, if Boston LE targets indies more often, why do you suppose that is?

What LE targets first and foremost is Craig's List and legitimate agencies steer well clear of CL.  The women who advertise on CL often don't screen well, if at all, and this invites busts.  Second on the list would be any provider dumb enough to set up shop in a somewhat moneyed suburban town like West Roxbury...

Your theory about agencies is logical but this is Boston, not Vegas.  The three or four legit agencies in town operate intelligently, keep a low profile and stay below the radar which is the smart way to go.

The 92 year old woman in the other room confined to a bed? I try not to be judgemental although girls like this make us look really inhumane to society!

Maybe it is old news, but new news to me!

I would rather not get back to the 92 year old woman in the next room.  Though I think that aspect is awful, I would rather get to some of the other women on the board.

Just saying.

The 92 year old woman is an invalid.  She is bed ridden, not being confined against her will.  That of course doesn't make it right for a woman to be turning tricks on the old lady's house. Actually a pretty stupid idea! I have not seen any follow up about on the local news since it happened last month.

Good point, I think I remember reading about it last year as well.

There was a recent bust fairly similar to this one where a provider was charged with neglect of an elderly person as well as charged with prostitution
The article said the Provider brought in a client(who was a cop) in the same house she had been caretaking an elderly person in also
I,at 1st, thought the police was trying to put a bogus charge on this Provider..
One thing that sent me a big red flag was the police was over exaggerating in the article...
I questioned the validity of what the police was reporting about the arrest
The police tried to make how the whole arrest transpired seem bigger than what it really was
Reason of that being...
The article's name was something like..
Boston area "prostitution ring" bust...
then it was just one woman arrested for sex solicitation...
THEN in addition to this blown out portrayal of a HUGE prostitution ring bust~
in a few lines the police mentioned they charged the woman with neglect of an elderly person...
The paper said nothing about if the elderly person was in deplorable condition or the details/evidence of how the whole thing/offering to engage all took place.....
In this case...
I believe the police...
I believe that this truly did happen just like their reporting
Like Brooke,I'm primarily nonjudgmental...very open minded..
I do have to clarify what I am judgmental about...
Anything related to any kind of victimization of the innocent or disabled the helpless..
Anything non-consensual I am against...
How this whole thing transpired appears to me like this elderly person was neglected
The courts will decide when the lawyers haggle out the details... reveal truths and the lies...
The immediate safety of the elderly person in this matter seemed to be handled pretty well by police (I am not a fan of the police..but I do have to give credit where I feel it's due here)
in cases of abuse/neglect of a child the safety of the child is first...I feel the same should apply to the further on in life disabled elderly
