This depends on what is your criteria of human trafficking. I speak several languages among them Russian & Portuguese. Every time I'm in New York I pick up Russian paper where "for Russians only" whore apartments of Brooklyn advertise and visit one or two. I can assure you with supreme confidence that I've never met a woman there who was working there against her will or that was brought to America under false pretenses.
Even in the farthest corners of Russia and other former Soviet states everybody aware what it means for a woman to go to America, Europe or Gulf states for work which would command $$$. Russian women have many unique qualities but naivete is not one of them. In fact if anything they are overly suspicious and often overly street smart. If you fall for an innocent gaze of a Russian woman eh-eh...
I've no doubt that all (ok let's not be absolute - 99.9%) the girls that work for City Girls knew what they were getting into before signing up with them. That being said however their pimps are still never too far away, even if in another state. Do they take their passports when the girls arrive? Many often do. However I doubt they do it at City Girls because she would not be allowed on the plane without a passport. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that girls working for City Girls travel by themselves.
The problems that I've heard of is usually have to do with women who arrive here on unrelated matters and then meet somebody who somehow ends up taking possession of their passport and then begins to blackmail them. That happens. Not often but it does. With City Girls again - no passport no travel around the country so that probably would not apply. I have heard of the situations though when a lady would try to enlist a hobbyist to help her to stay here and/or go indy and pimps at City Girls find out and blacklist that hobbyist.
In fact it happened with me in the late 90s at one of the Russians only apartments in Brooklyn. I gave a girl my number, she called me, they spotted it and I never saw her again. They still would take my business though but now I was only allowed to see their "other girl", Mila. From that point on Natasha for me was always "in Florida" (i.e. in the next room). At the time Brooklyn's Russian mafia would run young girls to the States where they'd work for them. But all of those girls seem to know what was up and many worked beforehand in Europe or Canada. Now the situation in NY is different. Many ladies in "Russians only" apartments are either local MILFS (many married with their husbands not knowing) or those who came here via work-and-travel (you see a lot of those on the Cape or Martha's Vineyard in the summer).
The only time I saw something really bad in this regard was here in Boston. 8 years ago or so I've been frequenting a very short (4'11") good natured Brazilian MILF in Medford on Arlington side of Salem St right off 93 in the basement apartment of a condo building. Her name was Maria. 100/half, $150/hour I think. Rings a bell anybody?
Anyway her relationship with her handlers I thought was a pure slavery. I remember myself being quite outraged about it too. I suspect that she was working out some debt, maybe for her silicons. One day she told me they were going to move out of town in three days but she didn't know where and invited me to visit her to say goodbuy on the day of the move. I still regret not taking her up on that.
Other then that I've never seen anybody working under anything resembling a forced labor. Maybe in first 5-10 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union things like that happened but now I just don't see how. Everybody in the former USSR are so aware of this happening that it borders on impossibility.
I'm not saying that human trafficking is not happening. It's just not as prevalent as people here seem to think. Unless you consider knowingly coming to the States to work for some service as a prostitute "human trafficking", like I suspect it happens at City Girls. If that's your criteria then it's rampant.
The feminists here on the other hand love to proclaim this or that human trafficking. Helps with government grants, helps with keeping many of them employed, channels people's outrage away from really important issues and gives their lives a sense of higher purpose. Hey, I myself would magnify anything in order to be able to feel and live like that! Anybody has any right causes for me to enlarge so we can get some Uncle Sam's doe to eradicate them? I promise I'd share the income
