in the US of A we've had 200 years of independence, democracy and economic prosperity, and what did that produce?  two blundering political parties!

I think singleton is ignoring an important point:  Democracy and economic prosperity are ends in themselves and require no further justification.  However, I agree with him about the Dems and Reps.  There is an alternative, though.  Vote Libertarian!
