First and foremost.   I am just a mod here in Boston and New England.  I do not MAKE the rules, I just have to enforce them.   As to the personal emails of hobbyists, I got a PM from one of the administrators telling me that it was not allowed, and that the post by casualsx was removed.

Secondly as to the standard "Well this is the way I have always done this" response, remember that TER has changed managers in the recent past, and rules do and have changed.   Just because it was a different way before does not mean that it is now that way at the current time.

You have to laugh at this one, that is if our moderator allows it.

Earlier this morning I posted a brief note again that I had received PM and do not have VIP status to get PM's. AS I always do I offer an email address to anyone trying to reach me.

So, I wait and the post never makes it to the board. So I check the Account Manager Board Postings. Well, I was moderated for reason "Other".

Here is the kicker, "Please contact moderator via PM" :-)

Now I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but sometimes I feel that people just go out of their way to make me feel Wik'd Smart!

The issue is that you CANNOT put your personal email address on the board.   This is directly from the management of TER.

I had to reject your messages because of that.

I've seen numerous posts, on numerous boards, stating that the member didn't have VIP status, and included an email address. Is this new, or were these posts that just got overlooked?

Since I have been a member (3 years)this has been an accepted practice on this board. So you can understand why I would do it again. Same thing with my previous post with the tickets. It was fine over the last two years. that’s fine I'm not complaining, just can't follow the rules if you don't know them.

The point of the message was someone telling me to reach you via PM when I don't have PM, which was the reason for the post in the first place.

Ironic, ain't it!

Has TER decided to become like congress and make up rules as they go?

I can't begin to count the number of posts where a hobbyist has posted his email address BECAUSE he didn't have vip status.

If TER is thinking that they will get more members hey better start doing a little more logical thinking. Stop communication amongst hobbyists and you will cut your membership even more! Perhaps the "administrators" need to lighten up a little and get out in the real world.

O.K., I'm off my hobby-horse now ... blast away. :-)

It is a rule that makes perfect sense.  For one reason it may not be your email.  How would you feel if some jerk posted your email on this site for vengeance.  Common sense to me.

I personally think it makes sense-

Rules change- get over it...

Moreover, a VIP membership only costs 20$ per month- I honestly believe it's a good investment for any provider because it allows to communicate more personally with individual clients in a private way.

It's been profitable for me, and I would suggest to get a VIP membership.

I concede to whatever the rules are. I was merely stating why I had a different expectation based upon past experience.

The post is in response to TER's insistence that I communicate via PM, which I don't have and a non VIP member. The policy is kind of stupid in this instance, in terms of reaching the moderator.

Oh and don't worry about my email getting plastered everywhere. I have several for this hobby. If you choose to use your personal email, well, there isn't much I can say to you about that.

I ran into this issue a few months back and had a conversation with 'staff'. The problem that ya'll seem to miss is that in order to ask a MOD why our post has been declined we have to send a PM. If we are not a VIP we can't do that. So its a catch 22.

I have no issue with the rule, just the way it is communicated (or not 'cause your not a VIP)...

Most ladies have a method of contact listed if we needed to ask them a question. There are other ways of obtaining VIP without paying for it. If the im handle is allowed that might me a happy medium or perhaps use the ter new im feature. Aside from that those concerned could voice their complaint to ter mgt whereas the mods hands are tied as far as this matter is concerned

Is that really helping TER get VIP membership? I've seen some really lame reviews, obviously fake, pass through STAFF, without a second glance. Then hear hobbyists complain when their legit reviews are denied. It's pretty well known that MOD's have no say in any of this but the over enforcing of these rules has killed the spirit of this board. Sadly, I don't bother posting anything that might get me in trouble for having a different viewpoint. I might labeled as a trouble-maker for simply asking the wrong thing.
Am I the only one who thinks the "New Rules" are a bit over kill?
