Swanee Hunt is a lovely woman with good intentions in the world.  She is beautiful with Texas cheer leader great looks.......and she was lucky enough to never having been forced into doing anything she didnt want to do, couldnt afford to do, etc....She is daughter of Lamar Hunt, Texas Oil and  gas billionaire.  To her credit she gives away much of her fortune to worthwhile enterprises, the Salvation Army, shelters, and supports a local symphony orchestra so poor kids can learn about the music world....among other things.   She is also a compelling public speaker.

This morning I found this article in the Globe:

If I was asked in one of those studies what would keep me from paying for it, I'd say, "An alternative."

If the sanctions ever get as draconian as these zealots want them to be, I'll go get my passport done so I can visit other countries (except Sweden!) where reason reigns.

The only statistical documentation commonly used by these writers comes from interviews with women in prison, half-way houses or drug treatment facilities where the women they are talking to WERE most likely forced into it either by another person or by circumstance.  As long as that is the primary source of information then most of what we see written about prostitution will be based on human exploitation.
Any one of us who has ever seen a well dressed, well educated escort in a nice hotel room for $300 an hour knows that there is much more to prostitution than poor desperate women on street corners.  I can't change the way the world looks at women who sell sex so I don't worry about it.  I avoid situations where I might end up with a woman who is being forced to do something against her will.

While articles like this annoy me because they are based on only a small segment of the industry I really don't give them much thought. It's a part of the life that I'm not involved in
