From what I read what's being enacted in Maine is the "Nordic model". Selling is decriminalized but buying is still a crime. That approach is better than nothing but doesn't go far enough. Decriminalize it all.

It’s only a partial decriminalization; it eliminates the crime of engaging in it but it’s still not legal to buy it. The law is meant to help victims of sex trafficking and forced prostitution.

.....that seeing an Indy that is not being exploited by a pimp and truly Indy would be rather benign from a legal standpoint- as long as the activity doesn't become an attractive nuisance- lots of traffic through a hotel lobby or in an apartment complex or home neighborhood-
