You did the right thing. If I ever see anybody (happened only 2 times and once when client was with his wife). I totally ignore an act like I don't even know them.

I was helping a girlfriend out at her rest. a few years ago and a client and his wife were in my section. I just did my job and focused more  (as far as eye contact) on the wife when taking their order. Did NOT in any way shape or form cause any suspicion that I knew him.  The client booked with me a few weeks after that and was VERY appreciative that I didn't even say "Hi" and just ignored him because he said his wife really picks up on that stuff and would of said "do you know her or how come she said hi" and was happy that I handled it the way I did.

So for me I act as if I don't know you and feel you should do the same. Chrissy

Hi everyone.

This is my first post. I saw a provider last night when I was at a store.  She was with a guy. Is there specific protocol if you bump into a provider like this? I tried not to make eye contact and avoid her. I was just curious.

thanks.

I am sure she is going to act the same way as you...no eye contact and acting like she doesnt know you!
I have never bumped into anyone like that but would just act like I have never seen them before! ESPECIALLY if I am with another man! Just my 02 cents...

I would say you did the right thing.  However, if she speaks to you and you are comfortable with it, follow her lead.  In general you should probably just develop temporary amnesia!

You did the right thing. A provider I know was at a party with friends, and a guy who had been one of her clients was also there with a friend of hers who knew nothing about her occupation. What do you think he did? He proceeded to "out" her with a result that she doesn't work in her home city anymore. What a jerk.
