Sitting here doing my taxes (I know I'm late, my accountant filed for an ext.). There is a line for "Hobby Expense", and I am wondering if it is similar to charitable deductions, where a receipt is not needed for contributions under $250. If so, I am in good shape for most of my expenses, but I may need to ask  a few of the ladies if they can email me a receipt. Which makes me wonder, some providers ask for a contribution and not a rate. So, for those providers, do I include them under Charitable Contributions, and if so, shouldn't they be providing me with a receipt at time of donation? Now, in order to determine the appropriate amount for the deduction, I must deduct the "value" portion of the contribution from the amount given, and the result is the deduction. Do I determine the value, based on how I rated the provider in my review, or am I better off using an average of all their reviews for the value basis?

Now, for the providers, as you get older, do you get to depreciate your assets, and if you retire, is there an accelarated depreciation schedule that you must follow?

No rush for answers, I'm already late, lol.

But Hobby expenses can only offset hobby income.  If you've gotten the ladies to pay you give us some pointers

I know I am one of the few who report all of my income. Therefore I support all write offs. I don't know how I could do it without making myself guilty but would love to help those out who I've seen. Suggestions on how to write the receipt without incriminating myself might the place to start.
