On a side note - even if you have a laptop with wireless connectivity it doesn't necessarily mean it will work.  The location you are staying at must have a wireless signal for you to use to connect.

I'm going away for the full month of July to N.Conway N.H. and I do not have a laptop and I will need one to be able to get my email and set up date's. I've never had one so I do not know where to start. I've been looking around online but it's overwhelming when you don't know what your looking for.

What I need is one I can use anywhere.....without hooking it up to cable/phone outlet if that is possible. Something to where I can get and send my email and have internet access anywhere (ie. outside by the pool). I'm not sure if this is possible.....If it is please let me know what type would work well for me.

I'm really not looking to spend alot 1,000. or under but will consider more if there are no computers in that price range that offer what I need. I want something reliable.

Please email me if you can help direct me to the right laptop for travel. Thank's for any help in advance it is very much appreciated!

I just purchased a brand new Toshiba Satellite at Costco's in Waltham about a couple of weeks ago, for close to a 1,000. It's nice. They have tons of them at different prices. I believe that there is one in New Hampshire, as well..

BJs and Costc all have computers for a good price ~$1000.00. BestBut also has some for less than $1000.00. I suggest checking out the DELL, Compaq, and Gateway web sites only. They usually run specials available only through the web.
As far as using it by the pool, check with your cell phone service. Most of them are now offering "wireless web" connections. I haven't checked out the cost but you can get a card for the laptop which allows you to use your cell phone.

You'll need to stay at a place that offers wireless connections in order to use a laptop without plugging in to a phone outlet.

What I have found in some hotels is that you may need to bring a cat5 plug to take advantage of the highspeed internet they offer because their networks aren't always reliable. I always carry a regular phone plug and a cat5 in my geek bag. You may also want to check with your cell phone provider for a connectivity kit. I use Verizon and I can connect anywhere I can get a signal , it makes me hard just thinkining about all this geek speak. oh my, I can't even type ................

Hey Chrissy if you dont want to rush in to buy one i have an extra one you can borrow for the month.  call me if you want it
