As a relative novice to this hobby, is this something to be concerned about; particularly with agencies. I totally understand that asking for certain personal info is necessary for any provider's safety- but one must wonder if one's name is sitting in some dusty file cabinet. And nobody needs that skeleton showing his face somewhere down the line.
Can anybody comment on their experience or practice.
Anything you give out maybe kept. You need to try to understand who you are sending the info to and how they might want to use it. If you are concerned as to the final usage of the info don't give it. I have given my info to a select few. They have been trusted keepers of that info todate. I enjoy meeting wonderful woman and they need some security. Party hearty, but safe.
I, and I believe many on the board will agree, have struggled with this over time. You need to feel a certain amount of trust before you give out certain information. Like many, I use a completely different email addy for communications (same as this) This helps providers and agencies recognoze and trust me. When I am scheduling an appt, I need a little trust to give out my mobile phone number, a bit more to give out my work number, and in both cases I have no problem giving my first name. If I am required to fill out a form on a website in order to book an appt., I pass, and move to another provider.
I realize that providers and agencies need to play this game as well, for their physical safety, and I respect that. I have no problem showing my various forms of id when I meet someone. My concern is the retainment of information. The risk is to be contacted by LE, or an agency or provider contacting others that are close to me, either by accident or on purpose.
Many will tell you that they do not keep information. Some of them are telling the truth, and some are lying about that. You need to determine the level of trust that you have for others, individually.
My level of trust is often influenced by the reputation that a provider or agency has on this or other boards or outlets. For example, I trust the information on this board very much. I am a bit skeptical of contacting a provider that advertises on CL, although more likely to call them if they post here as well (ie: Nina). I stay away from the Phoenix. Eros is an ad outlet, so each individual needs its own determination.
Both agencies or independents HAVE to keep records if you pay with credit card. If you pay in cash it's not necessary to keep any personal info of you. At this point policies vary. In our case for example all personal info is discarded just after the appointment is over. You should ask any agency or independent what their policy is.
If you want to keep your privacy the best arrangement possible is to get a hotel yourself, pay in cash, then use an outcall agency or independend, and pay in cash.
