Re:A Client Verification Database - A Question for Providers/Hobbysts Alike

Would it be helpful if there was a web-accessible database for collecting verification information on hobbyst?

I was thinking of a SECURE clearinghouse that hobbysts apply to that could be used by VERIFIED providers to determine if a potential client is a security risk or not.

Of course, protection of private information would be somehow insured and the manager of the clearinghouse would have to have an impeccible reputation for completeness and discretion.

I know that this may already exist, but it seems that there is a better model than what is currently out there.  I have seen several implementations used for medical verification that work wonderfully.  All the information is very secure and the providers (medical personnel) have full confidence in the verification process of the hobbyst (patients) because the administrator(s) are sticklers for completeness.

Of course, this is no substitute for a provider's own assessment of an individual, but at least it would serve as a good 1st level check to make sure she is not dealing with LE, a deadbeat, or a psycho.  It could also include a survey of preference information and desired payment mechanics.  A more advanced system might even include a secure system for payments, deposits, etc.

Just a thought.  Was wondering if this might fly or not.

There already are databases for this. Date-Check is my preference as they don't keep personal info on the servers like RS2K does, there is also a small review site that has a Screening Room that hasn't caught on yet, but I think the potential is there. Both Date Check and the site with the Screening Room are based on provider referrals.

They already exist is various forms and hobbyists are reluctant to use them due to security reasons.  References from providers previouly seen work best, both for security and for the value of the reference.

Well, I say bring it on. I think it's a great idea and I think it will even out the playing field a bit for the ladies. If I had a problem with my personal information possibly getting out, I wouldn't be on any boards or giving it up to hobby. I'd find a different way to play. If you participate on any of these boards, or use email to participate in the hobby, your personal information is already fairly accessible via hacker.

The internet is not a safe, fool-proof, fully protected, guarantee that your personal information will not be found out.... So, if your really concerned about personal information, this is the wrong place to express it because simply being here indicates you have given some of that personal information up. And, what you've given up is probably enough to find you.

So, bring on the client review database, I'd rather the ladies be safe and comfortable.

I agree with Magnum.  I wouldn't mind, if it brings more security and safety for the providers.
