Hey!  I want some advice about weight lifting and all my friends either don't workout or do the typical girl 5lbs weight lifting.  I have been getting into weight lifting for the past few months and want to lift weight as heavy as I can.  I also don't want to hurt myself!  SO I figured lotsa guys probably read this board and lotsa guys like to lift weights so maybe someone would like to help me with my form?  I am not looking for advice online since that is easy to find elsewhere.  I'm looking for a guy who is interested in meeting up and knows what he's doing at the gym.

I'd rather not get calls about this until I can tell your legit and not just trying to meet for free.

thank you thank you

It is called a personal trainer, every gym has at lest one. Yes they cost money but it is going to be more beneficial than free loading on ter.

The personal trainers at my gym all work for a company that has a philosophy they follow that is not the kind of workout I'm interested in.  I have never seen them coaching a women in real weight lifting just lots of cardio and light 'toning' with very light dumbells.

It would be nice to get to know someone who is a weight lifter who I'm friendly with I don't know anyone who is interested in it and will nerd out about it with me.  Lots of cool, open minded guys use TER so it seemed like a place where I may find someone interested in being a workout buddy.  My post isn't for one free personal training session-it's for a workout buddy!  I'm a friendly lady and like to make new friends.

just want to add..

I'd be willing to meet at the other person's gym (if it has a daily rate) and I never said I wouldn't consider working something out to compensate the person helping me monetarily or otherwise, if needed.

The Kinesiology section is pretty useful on this site. The site itself has gotten a bit bloated IMHO, but approach is great. It's based on two sets per exercise, one warm-up, one to failure, planned between 8-12 reps. They suggest focusing on compound, multi-joint motions like bench press and squat using free weights.

I'm just getting back into working out myself after over a year off due to serious illness (Don't worry ladies, it's not contagious). if I had a regular schedule, I'd be one of the dozens of guys who I imagine have already PM'd you, it'd be fun to have a buddy to work with.

shoulder injuries are very common for women who do not know how to work out. it would be best to see a trainer.
