What do you all think of this? Good idea, bad idea?

I would love to hear your thoughts

Jill:)

I still haven't figured out what the hell twitter really is??? Signed up for it about a year ago and haven't gone back. So I can't answer your question???????

Thats exactly what I thought, not to mention people can see who you follow, like SO's potential employers etc. BAD BAD idea

I think it's idiotic.  Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me.  I think TER's advertising on radio is idiotic as well.

The ultimate down fall of Craig's List as a tool for hobbying was greed, stupidity and publicity.  It may not happen tomorrow, next week or next month but the more of a high profile TER decides to exhibit the bigger the danger is of it winding up the same way that CL did.

I for one would not use it. It is too difficult to control, in a public forum, what others might "tweet" without thinking.

I think if trouble did arise, it would make for great evidence.

I'm on the "no" side.

Another nay.  I don't see an upside.  I do know that individual providers offer that, too, and I have the same view of that.

Twitter ... OMG! What's next!! Newspapers!!!!

I honestly don't see it as such a big deal.

I mean it's not like [kids, LE, your spouse] can't find the same info on this site in public forums ... or on a provider's website ... or in the newspaper for god's sake!!

OK, I do see a few yahoos "following" a provider using their real name or personal account.  But that's just pure stupidity and Darwin should take care of them shortly.

Twitter is just a new media option. Think of it as TER 2.0. I'm sure there was a similar hue and cry from our predecessors in this lovely hobby when boards like this first showed up on the Internet. Yet TER 1.0 is now a source of valuable information for hobbyists and a great advertising tool for providers and few of us think twice about posting here (under an appropriately concealing alias of course :)

Now whether or not TER has anything relevant to add to the twitterverse really remains to be seen ...

in a bar, traveling, or out of town - one can take the persona of anyone, lifestyle and/or profession. This is a hobby that affords anyone to be someone else. An opportunity to get away from reality to meet someone new, special or otherwise.

Think about the last time you were in Vegas. Who were you? Where were you from? what did you do for a living?  Heck... I was a self made millionaire as a plumber in a 3rd world country educating locals on the profession.  Or the other option, a retired politician from Middle of No Where, America.

You get my point.... so why in the world would you want to mix the 2?

Going twitter, FaceBook or using any of your personal info is just plain STUPID. Don't do it.

Just my 2c
