I think there is a saying "if you need something done, do it right the first time"... When I screen new friends, I always go with my gut feeling. Regardless of how many reviews the hobbyist has, or employment verification, speaking on the phone, I feel like you can totally feel out the energy and vibe on the other end. I think that as long as you deal with legit models, they are smart enough to know how to keep info on the DL. Some hobbyists think that their lives are "oh so great" and they have SO much to lose if something were to go down, and they don't think about the model, she too has alot to lose in most cases (the upscale ones anyway).
I know variety is the spice of life, but have you considered finding a couple fantastic models and stick to them as regulars? I have met some of the most intelligent and amazing men, who I have had long lasting friendships with, and hey the more comfy you are with someone the more FUN you will have! Do other guys find some ladies have alternatives to online screening? Have arranged to meet several great local women at a prearranged public setting. They feel safe and I was content with the anonimity. Not practical for some ladies but screening may be more necessary for high volume escorts. Been moving to the higher hourly rate ladies who seem content with the alt arrangements.
Completely understand the ladies need to feel safe, such as Jordan Lee's recent post, but the screening process is out of hand. Too many people walking around with laptop computers filled with personal info. Stories in the media about guys being harassed or extorted are only a small sample of the problems.

I can't say that I've heard of screening information getting into the wrong hands (Except in the case of agencies, but that's another matter as far as I'm concerned.) and causing problems.
