There seems to be a double standard. If we do not call or do not show up for an appointment we are "blacklisted". If a provider does it there appears to be no consequences. The same providers who continue to leave clients waiting are still posting on this board as if nothing ever happened. In many cases the hobbyists who were stood up have been vilified. I have been stood up three times in two months. Inexcusable in any business. If I dare mention by who this post does not get posted or all the white knights come to the providers rescue.. Other hobbyists need to know what is going on. If we can't share this info on TER then where can we?
You're right, mention something like that here, even just as a statement and not mean-spirited, and there is a blood-curdling cry of protest from every quarter. It’s hardly worth it. It’s a good idea for guys to never give out their TER name.
since you haven't see her, you can technically write a review. If you don't out her, it's useless to us hobbyists and then it's just a gripe. Then it's up to all us hobbyists to make a decision on whether to take a chance on the provider.
....behaving the way you'd want the other "party" to behave. If it doesn't work out, for whatever reason, you vote with your wallet and your feet. It's that simple.
Yes, I've been stood up (twice, by a well-reviewed young lady that populates this board frequently), and it's no fun having (in my case) driven two hours, secured a hotel, etc. only to find out you're spending the time alone. Many recommend a Plan "B", but that doesn't have much appeal to me for a number of reasons.
In the end, you just move on. There's not much more you CAN do. Yes, you CAN post it here, and I'd frankly encourage it. Will you get slammed? Probably. Double-standard? Maybe, but I honestly think there's a little too much effort going into the whole thing.
Look at it this way: if as much energy and effort went into being THERE, on TIME, as goes into defending oneself, the hobby world would be a lot better place.
I agree that standing someone up is unprofessional and a royal waste of your time. The very least someone can do is communicate. I had to cancel appointments due to catching a bad head cold a coupe of weeks ago and felt badly about it, but knew I was doing both of us a solid. We need to all respect each others time like the responsible adults we are supposed to be.
It's still a big problem for both clients AND providers. Who's time is more valuable, well, there's no point in arguing. Everyone's time is valuable but other people tend to place less value on our time than we do.
Solution? Move on. Sure you can out her on the boards but what will happen has been covered pretty well here...and it won't get you laid. Just cross her off your list and look for another girl.
Let me tell you the story Of a man named Charlie On a tragic and fateful day He put some bens in his pocket, Kissed his wife and family Went to ride on the NCNS Charlie handed in his Thread At the TER Boston Station And he repeated it from time to time When he got there, the provider told him, "Please leave a message." Charlie could not get off that dame. Chorus: Did he ever get in, No he never got in And his fate is still unhappy He may ride forever On the streets of Boston He's the man who never got in.
You most certainly do have the best recourse of all. You sit back in your chair if front of your pooter and j/o knowing you saved 300 and gave yourself better service than some one that would no show no call anyway.
Midatlantic's response seems to make the most sense to me. Though foodguy's rhyme was humorous you have to have more than 6 reviews (almost all in Chicago) and no white list referrals for me to take you seriously. I place more weight on the opinions of hobbyists who have been there.

Of course it was anticipated. I was surprised it took so long frankly. As I said in the original post, the victims of being stood up get vilified. Sadly, it continues to be the case.
Foody doesn't review everyone he as seen. I had the pleasure of his company several times before you even wrote your very first review. Newbie??? I don't think so.
