My best view was from a balcony near the top of the 1 Charles street high rise apartments (a friend who has since moved). We looked DOWN on the fireworks! Awesome.
Try to get an invite there.
Also the Top of the Hub restaurant on top of the Prudential building will give you dinner and an aerial view. They have reservations for something north of $100.
I am very excited to be spending the 4th July in one of the most historical cities in the country and was wondering if I could hear some must do suggestions for te 4th July weekend
If you have a friend with roof top access near the hatch shell (assuming no rain) thats is by far the best way to spend the evening. Sit back and listen to the music and watch the fire works.
If you want to avoid the crowds but still enjoy the music, go to the Pops rehearsal the day before (July 3) and then go to a friends on the 4th to see the fireworks. If none of your friends have a good view you can come to my party. I have one of the best views in the city.
Hi Beautiful! Boston 4th of July fireworks are spectacular, given good weather of course. You already have one invitation to a party with a view and I'm sure you will get more.
If all else fails and you don't want to be in a crowd of 500,000 on the Esplanade, the Cambridge side of the river by MIT is a great place to watch the fireworks. There's still a crowd, but it is manageable and you don't have to show up in the morning just to get a good spot. An hour ahead of time should be fine (fireworks are scheduled for 10:30 PM this year).
Take the Red Line to Kendall/MIT and follow the crowd along Ames St. or Wadsworth St. toward the river.
The fireworks barge is already in the Charles - they are getting it ready for you!!
You could also view the fireworks from the bridge by the Kendall Square T stop on the Red Line. Not sure if you can hear the concert from there though.Neil Diamond is one of the people performing. The fireworks begin about 9:30 and last for about 25 minutes or so. Have fun!

While the bridge has a great view of the fireworks, the sidewalk is cramped - there is not much room to move once a crowd forms. That's why I recommended Memorial Drive by MIT. Typically both sides of Memorial drive are closed, so there is room for the crowd (and a way to get away from it if you want to). There are also speakers set up on in the Mem Drive median. So if you are near enough to the speakers, you can hear.
The final advantage of watching from the Cambridge side is that the Boston skyline is in the background/underneath the fireworks - a fantastic sight.

That was the practice in past years, but according to july4th.org this year the schedule is:
8:30PM Boston Pops concert begins with the National Anthem and flyover 9:30PM 1812 Overture is played 10:00PM CBS Network national broadcast begins 10:30PM Fireworks begin 11:00PM Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular ends
All of this advice is probably moot, since I'm pretty sure that Rebekah will be watching the fireworks from some fancy Back Bay rooftop party, while all the male guests are watching her!

I agree with who ever said go see the Pops rehearsal on the 3rd of July. On the 4th check out the observation deck at the top of the Prudential Tower in Prudential Center. It's 20 bucks to get in but it is an amazing view of the city and the fireworks. Great people watching too...
