Take it from a sober lassie, There is NO amount of black and tans with shots of Jameson's to match the state of eternal peace and love his spirit has transcended. Thanks be to God!
Today marks the day that Ted Kennedy has been sober for a month!
The man has passed, let him rest in peace.
That was in poor taste.

yup...and he became the only Democratic "shovel-ready" project
just wondering if anyone here remembers the National Lampoon? In the '70's, there was a play on the old VW advert of the VW Beetle floating, showing it's tight engineering... titled..."If Ted Kennedy drove a Volkswagon, he'd be president today"
Take it from a sober lassie, There is NO amount of black and tans with shots of Jameson's to match the state of eternal peace and love his spirit has transcended. Thanks be to God!
I like a good Ted K. joke as much as anyone, but this is just mean, considering that he died of inoperable brain cancer, unrelated to his drinking. This kind of joke is typical of his political opponents. And claiming he's in some mythical better place doesn't help.
I'm not trying to start controversy, but this is so off topic. Given the flame wars on this and the General board lately, I'm asking for this fire to be put out.

Considering how many sober people I know and dealt with their struggles,I found the joke tasteless in so many ways.I am can be crude and rude but sometimes it just go over the edge.
Exhossvmd
I agree- I don't understand how someone could make jokes about another human being who died so tragically. Forget that the man was a politician, he was also a person...
lighten up Francis !!!
"Claiming he's in some mythical place....." You poor old sod. Didn't you know I was a druid in my past life? Any ways, with both my parents gone 5 months apart from Cancer...I have good faith in what they have taught me....and it is to return home to LOVE!
"I have good faith in what they have taught me"
There is a separate Politics and Religion board because people will never agree about these things. Injecting them into a discussion about common interests is disruptive. It becomes personal, people get upset at each other, and there is no positive outcome.
In my post, I tried to demonstrate why your comment and the original "joke" were offensive to me, and likely to to others, but this central point was obviously lost on you.
Faith is belief without evidence - a sign of a confused mind. Please don't impose your religion or mysticism on this board. At least NHTed had the sense to drop it.
filmat11
Oh well.....a sober mind is not a confused mind.

OH SNAP! Thank you....I know how to get back to earth.....and ON TOPIC!!! Sweet Jesus I'm feeling the love now!
Nobody cried for her. Still haven't. Been a while.
As someone who has lost many friends and family to cancer,i find your attempt at humor extremely disgusting and ignorant! Since when is this type of humor funny? CANCER VICTIMS.. now thats funny! NOT! We all have our things, for some its drugs, alcohol, gambling, shopping or sex. Im in disbelief that your that FUCKIN IMMATURE! GROW UP YOU FUCKIN LOSER! That applies also to you DOUCHEBAGS who think this type of thing is funny! MAYBE YOU'LL BE A VICTIM OF COLON CANCER OR PROSTATE CANCER OR BRAIN CANCER! HOW FUNNY WOULD THAT BE? KARMA WORKS LIKE THAT YOU DUMBASS!

I say that without any sort of filtering.
Ted Kennedy did a lot for Massachusetts, and was a good person. Someone I know met him quite a few times, and Kennedy was not only willing and capable of helping others, he was honored to do it.
He was someone who did a lot of good in his life.

HA HA HA HA HA. I get it, it was a joke. Boy, Tough Room.
your emotional response is really inappropriate. "Someone I know met him quite a few times etc etc"... how lame and pathetic. As a veteran, I can say unequivocally that he was viewed by many of my colleagues as a danger to the country as a whole. Immigration? Law enforcement? Support for the military? HEALTH CARE????? (oh yes, he should have gone to Canada or Cuba for his cancer treatments). Give me a break. Perhaps great for MA in certain respects...but for the country, a disgrace.
His moral compass was broken. He skirted responsibility. He caused the death of a young woman. He lived a double-standard.
On the other hand, if I had to choose a person to go out and drink and just fuck around with...Teddy would be my first choice and Bill Clinton a close second. Great guys. Fun in a pinch. Get more ass than a toilet seat.

NHTED is one of the longest contributing members of this board, I don't understand all the hostile piling on- this is a perfect example of why a lot of people do not post any more, too many CRYBABIES !
Jokes about the dead are morbid, but taste, like morality and time exist only in the human mind.
Posthumous reverence applies only to veterans and true patriots, not privileged politicians in my mind.
At any rate you could say that this sort of joke is actually a celebration of his life and existence.
It's all good Nhted.
Anytime you try to talk about anything but the weather you risk offending somebody. Still, the comment was crude, irrelevant and completely unnecessary. Even long-time contributors say stupid things sometimes...
"Still, the comment was crude, irrelevant and completely unnecessary"
Sounds like Ted Kennedy! Worthless piece of shit killed a woman and you asses are defending him. I'm sure her family was dancing a jig when he passed. I know I would. Just so you know I'm not talking out my ass, my sisters killer is still in prison.
I would say the post was not meant to offend anyone,it did not offend me one bit,but i do believe there was a young women many, many years ago screaming for help.Think about that for a while and tell me who the ass hole is then.
Nobody, including Ted Kennedy himself, ever said that Chappaquiddick was not a tragedy and a mistake. That is not going to bring the poor woman back. I live in the present and, by the way, I didn't call anyone an ass hole.

Ted may have done a lot for his community and state, but it seems to run in the family that they were abusers of women and in my book YOu DONT ABUSE WOMEN.Himself, the cousin, nephew.i can go on.This guy who started this post is getting crucified for a comment that i thought was pretty cute.i dont think he was trying to discredit what ted did for our country and Mass.It was not something he made up,it was a joke with good humor.I heard that joke six times before reading it.I think this post should be removed not due to the subject, just so everyone gets off this guys back. The more written the more reaction. We all make mistakes AS DID TED and i am sure this guy did not realize the reaction he would get so lets cut him some slack as The KENNEDYS have gotton many breaks in life.
Luv_women How can you call him an asshole when you made the comment you did after jill's nice 9-11 post. Come on, Moderator or not you insulted every person who had anyone or anything to do with 9-11 with a tasteless hose joke. Sorry I take being an american very seriously especially after 9-11. I kept my mouth shut before but you just insulted a member of this community because he made a joke about a person who was drunk for most of his life and yes he did die of cancer. Luckily the Ted from NH survived both ![]()
This post is ridiculous.
It was a joke.
Yes, Ted Kennedy did a lot of good with his life. He also had a sense of humor, apparently unlike some people around here.
Ted I thought it was funny. This coming from a conservative friend of Bill W not of Ted K. I spit my coffee out reading this. Dont sweat the stuff ted. What people need to realize is different things offend different people. You offended the liberals of MA. Bad boy, now I know why you moved to the live free or die state. Ted dont change there are too many PC people in the world today.
Like to see the activity on the board. Good or bad, it's been very quiet and I for one appreciate the bevy of activity.
I don't know where Luv_Women stands on this, but I for one will let it go so as long as the comments, personal attacks and otherwise are kept within control.
Everyone has a right to their opinion. So I guess we can ALL AGREE TO DISAGREE.
I will hold my tongue as a Moderator and be as objective as possible. I might post under an alias with my personal opinion.
But either way, have fun and keep it safe this holiday weekend.
I deleted the other duplicate post making reference to NHTED's thread.
Now back to your regular programming.
If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all.
OR -
Treat people the way you want to be treated.
NHTed...this is NOT important news, either!
Lisa of Boston
well...Senator Kennedy, please treat our Gitmo guests as you treated some of your women friends in the past... (hopefully, the upload will work...LOL)
First - that was a good one. I wonder how we can get him is 30 day chip.
Second - Jeez people. Lighten the heck up. He was a public figure and thus subject to both praise and ridicule. Ted would have probably had a chuckle at that one.
Third - many people came back with the comment of about how "crude" or "insensitive" the comment was. Excuse me but have you read some of the reviews around here. Can we honestly judge that comment as crude and then turn around and check out the review about the greek freak who tosses our salad with DTBBBJ and COF?!?! Little bit of a double standard here folks.
Last - humor is a most unique human quality and what largely can separate us from the animals. In the book Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein, the protagonist, a naive human raised by Martians thus having no understanding of human ways, has a very difficult time comprehending and acting like a human raised on earth. The pivotal point of his understanding of both humor and in turn human nature is when watching a cage full of monkeys in a zoo. A big monkey wants a banana from a smaller monkey and proceeds to smack the little monkey around for it. Dejected, beaten and bananaless, the little monkey finds an even smaller monkey and beats the piss out him for no reason. Upon witnessing this, the protagonist thinks about what he witnessed for a long few moments and bursts out in laughter. He finally understands humor and that is that every joke has a victim. Without it, it wouldn't be a joke.
Because we are sentient and self-aware beings, it is our ability as humans to laugh and make fun of tragedy. This is what allows us to cope and get through such horrific events. Ignorance is bliss, but in the face of ignorance, I'll take a good laugh.
People responding negatively to nhTed's JOKE need to lighten up. Where has your sense of humor gone? I'd bet the farm if it were a "W" joke instead there would be no such reaction. Shame on you narrow minded individuals.
Ted Kennedy was a politician who did what he did for TED KENNEDY, period, the end. Just like all the rest of the politicians [both sides of the aisle] do. If you believe anything different YOU are a fool.
Enjoy the day, lighten up and get back to a some more fun postings on this board.
Bob, he didn't do EVERYTHING for himself. He bought me drinks on a few occasions.
...... Than go on a car ride with Uncle Teddy
lmao nhted that joke was a riot!!!!!! reactions like these are laughable, exactly y i don't come around here much anymore.
