We have MLK holiday on Monday, special US Senate election on Tuesday, hump day theme Wednesday and open for the remainder of the week.

So enjoy your day off (for some) on Monday.

Vote on Tuesday. I suggest Brown but vote either way.

Ladies prepare for hump day Wednesday theme - masquerade/costume day.

** Info for Wednesday's Hump Day **
Let's use this Wednesday's Hump Day preview special to feature all beauties in a mask or masquerade garb.

You can make it elaborate or simple.

Please no more photos of just body parts without considering the theme.

This is an additional ad opportunity and intended to be fun. So please don't abuse the extra exposure.

Let's can the idea if this does not interest people.

Guidelines:
- Pics must be current and related to the weekly theme.
- Posts here will not count towards your weekly ad post.
- Posts can provide remainder of week schedule and any discount rates if available.
- Keep it fun!

Health care currently accounts for 16% of the GDP and is CONSERVATIVELY estimated to DOUBLE in cost over the next 20-25 years (i.e., 31-32% of the GDP by 2030-2035.) If for no other reason than that, I would respectfully DISAGREE with our (only?) mod dvnyc and strongly suggest you vote for Coakley on Tuesday 1/19.

I'm a conservative and as much as voting for a democrat kills me, this is without a doubt the right move to keep our country afloat financially in the 21st century.

Otherwise, I'm VERY much looking forward to the masquerade theme. After a shitty experience with Cindy Valentino in Miami last weekend (review pending) I'm back on local providers only for the foreseeable future and can't wait for Wednesday's posts to whet my appetite!

you have got to be kidding me

Giving more controll of our economy, live and health to politicians.......what possibly could go wrong?

Vote Brown .........stop the madness. Neither Party derves or should have this much power.

p.s. Coakley also has the presonaility of a tree stump.

"Giving more controll of our economy, live and health to politicians.......what possibly could go wrong?"

Yeah why would we do that when we can give to large corporations who without a doubt have our best interests at heart. You know like the financial sector, insurance companies...

Oh wait...

Healthcare is a moral issue. End of story. The fact that we lag so far behind so many other developed nations in key metrics is completely inexcusable and an example of how we can't do anything to reform large systems because we are so beholden to large corporations.

This is pretty the largest opportunity to actually get the ball rolling on reform. While I don't like the bill for numerous reasons, it is still a start.

Also I love all these people that are fiscally conservative all of a sudden. Instead of bitching how health care is going to hurt us economically (even though in the long run it should make us more efficient) why don't you complain about the two wars (one completely wrong) that your former President started? Or the banking meltdown he oversaw. This whole "over spending" in Washington was ushered in under the previous administration. But to unfuck us and stop a complete meltdown the Dems had to spend a shit ton of money, they know they have to reign it in but it better than a complete epic meltdown.

Brown isn't going to change anything for the better, he isn't some revolutionary that is going to usher in change. All he is going to do is bring more gridlock to a system that is less about governing and more about politics and keeping their asses in office so they can serve special interests.

Coakley isn't the most appealing candidate they could of put out there but I am not going to get bogged down in a cult of personality versus the greater good and reform.

That's why years ago, I decided I didn't want to pay for them and took out catastrophic coverage only, maintaining my own direct relationship with my docs, and pooling all those savings. Into hobbies, amongst other things.

So naturally, the State decides what's best for me, illegalizes my affairs, and mandates I buy something I don't want or need so I have to pay into a pool of subsidization.

Now we not only need to do that not only at a national level, but I need to get taxed on that something I don't want?

"Yeah why would we do that when we can give to large corporations who without a doubt have our best interests at heart. You know like the financial sector, insurance companies... "
Then don't give to large corporations. Taking the bus means no large corporation produced vehicle and car payment plus no large corporate car insurance.
But don't bill me for not taking charge of your own life, because believe me, I don't have your own best interests at heart, either.

What are you, self-employed? I bet any session on me you work for a "large corporation", incl. benefits.

BTW, I agree with the the former Presidents starting wars in the Balkans bit.
I'm  guessing that whole "military in Haiti" thing's going to be a non starter with you, too.

This election is not about Coakley vs. Brown. It is about moving forward on badly needed health reforms in this country. Many in the hobbying community who have great insurance plans and some who don't, are opposed to these reforms for the wrong reasons.  The US has the worst healthcare metrics of any Western nation and it is a great shame that we let over 25,000 people die of treatable diseases every year.

Please, Mass residents, think long and hard before you cast your vote on Tuesday. Think how far we have come in getting this bill thru the House and Senate. Don't let fear mongers stael your vote away!

I have very expensive health insureance that pays amost nothing if I get sick or am hospitalized.  The Government's own CBO estimates that the Obama plan will increase the premiums we pay and still leave millions uninsured.  we will pay 10 years of new taxes to pay for 6 years of the Obama health care plan, just to make it look like it will balance.  The Obama proposal is to cut 500 billion from Medicare to balance the books and they claim that a cut of that magnitude will not effect senior citizens healthcare?  The list is long and I have just scratched the surface.  Martha & Obama continue to blame W for the problems while Scott Brown surges in the polls.  Who has their head in the sand  and is out of touch with the electorate?

Yes I have thought long & hard about this election and I intend to vote for Scott Brown.  Let's restore some checks and Balance in our government and return some sanity to Government.

Bring it to Politics and Religion board!  I'm tired of reading these Republican tirades.  If GOP stands for G-Spot Orgasmic Provider then it belongs here.  Otherwise give it up.

I understand the topic might belong in the P&R NATIONAL Board. However, this is more regional and local to Boston. Thus the reason for allowing it to date.

I admit I initiated the threads of discussion. The board was slow and I was simply inviting conversation.

I didn't expect the rapid increase in activity. Regardless, I'm allowing it for the Brown v Coakley US Senate race. After the election on Tuesday, all future political posts will be moved to the P&R National board.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Martha has been around too long and has done very little.  Big Dig corruption and huge pensions-she has looked the other way.  Martha is just a talking head, and personally I don't think she has the background for the job.  Lawyers from the DA Office are a dime a dozen.

Scott on the other hand, has been off fighting for this country while Martha was lunching with her girlfriends.

Look at Scott:

Who do you want representing you?

PS: By the way, personally I am Pro Life but I believe others have to do what they have to do, as I don't walk in their shoes.  By Scott supporting Catholic healthcare facilities he ensures that we all are entitled to our beliefs.  It does not mean you have to agree with this-think a little deeper.  The emergency rooms of Catholic hospitals have always refused the morning after pill and the docs often suggest that victims of rape seek out other healthcare and support facilities.  That will never change, Martha or not.

I read, with amazement, the first thread where the Mod tried to stir up some heat on this issue.  The paranoid, anti-government, pro-gridlock, do-nothing sentiment in that thread really shocked me.  I held off commenting because we are not going to solve the problems of health care, jobs, Wall Street, terrorism and foreign wars by debating each other here on TER.

But there is a clear reason why people in this forum should be wary of conservative Republicans.  In general, conservatives (not libertarians) are in favor of rights for corporations but against individual rights.  Individuals who make a practice of flouting society's sexual norms should know that conservatives are not on their side.  Scott Brown is supported by the religious right and the Sarah Palin wing of the Republican party.  The same people who want to legislate morality, who want the government in your bedroom and hotel room.  Please think twice before voting for Scott Brown.

You think Martha is a friend of TER types? You have got to be kidding me! She is about as tighly wound sexually as they come!

When the Liberals start talking about tort reform, I'll know that they are serious about cost containment! Otherwise it is a political strategy to control more of our economy.

Do any of you send any important documents through the postal service or ride Amtrak? If you like that kind of service, and return on investment, then vote for Martha. If the idea of that kind of service level and work ethic creeping into our health care system, then vote for Brown.

Coakley is a conservative Democrat and was not my first choice.  Since the activities discussed on TER are illegal (Oh excuse me, the fictional activities which we discuss for "entertainment and amusement only"), I don't expect any friends in government.  But I'll take a conservative Democrat over a conservative Republican just about every time.  There is a clear difference in the area of individual liberties.

Scott Brown, if elected, will continue to pander to the Talk Radio/Sarah Palin Republicans.  Sorry, those people do not speak for me.

I'm all for tort reform, not because that will materially lower the cost of health care (it won't) but because it could encourage physicians to enter and stay in some particularly needed specialties.  The key to controlling health care costs is reforming the fee-for-service payment structure, but I don't want to trouble you with inconvenient complexity.

Your anti-government prejudices are showing as well as your contempt for ordinary working people.  The fact is that the US Postal Service is both efficient and cheap, relative to those in other industrialized countries.  Our public transportation system (including Amtrak), on the other hand, is shameful by comparison, not because of too much investment but because of too little.

OK, let's look at this from a track record prospective:

20 of the past 29 years have had a Republican and their 'de-regulation/cut tax's' agenda (sound familiar?) in the WH.
Look where this has lead us!

Although somewhere in there, an 'educated, intelligent man' (who has the same thought processes and 'wants' as many of us here) actually brought some prosperity and hope to us 'little' people and ended his reign with a surplus.
How did he accomplish this you ask?
By screwing-over/outsmarting the 'repressed/moral' Republicans corperate-loving asses in favor of making the average citizens lives easier/more productive.
How was he rewarded/remembered: As the 'violator' who 'stained' that innocent girl's dress/reputation.
PLEASE, I would be happily hook him up with some of our wonderful ladies if he'd run again.

Is Brown what/who you would like to be the voice representing our state?
I am not a Democrat or Republican (voted for Weld; right man for the job at the time).
While I do not agree with a lot of what is currently going on in MA (or in DC), allowing corporate America to run everything with no regulation (fact) because you believe your taxes/heathcare cost will go up (conjecture) is ludicrous.

This becomes a vote for the lesser of the 2 evils represented; no contest.
