It's been said: Thanks, Penelope, for woman-splaining this to those of y'all who don't get that this is a our business. At its best moments, it involves a very human connection--yes--but it is also our livelihood, i.e., a profession, and therefore subject to the laws of supply and demand just like any other industry discussed in economics class. If she's charging that much, there's a market for it. Period. End of story.
If it's not your cup of tea, move on with your life. Don't air your grievances here as if it's locker room talk--remember who the audience is here. Also, you might want to consider the reputation you might garner for taking issue with a lady's business practices, which are completely her prerogative.
Because honestly, I find the frequent appearance of these financial whining threads really galling *don't think I'm alone*.
Think about going into a situation in which you are completely vulnerable, physically, emotionally, and legally, and then think about what you would charge for living with that amount of risk. I love my job, I love my clients, but it ain't easy, this life we ladies have chosen, and it would be nice if you fellas got that (and massive thanks to those of you who do and are so generous and kind).
Speak of us with respect, and you will be rewarded in kind.
