Since the Boston HOF went over so well, how about sharing some stories on how the hobby use to be.
Before cell phones, you had to use a pay phone in the hobby lobby and call the providers phone number which was probably a pager, or paging service and you would type in the pay phone phone number and the provider would call you back in a few with the room number. It was the same with a provider that use an incall apartment. The apartments we always by a pay phone. I remember using this process when I met my first escort, Penny, back in August 1986 in Cleveland Circle. She even had a full bush. How did you find ladies before the internet. We saw ads in The Boston Phoenix weekly newspaper. That is how I found Penny for my first time in the Hobby. Also, Boston magazine also ran ads in the back of the monthly magazine. I met Tonie through the magazine. She was awesome.
After reaching a gal on the phone you would be directed to a pay phone and to call her from there. When she answered, then she would ask you for the number of the pay phone and that verified that you were actually there. Then she would give you the address and apartment number.
The other variation was that she could see you from her apartment and would ask you to wave your hand to verify it was you.
I also found most gals from The Phoenix, but sometimes I'd get to know a gal well from a MP, and we would then set up a rendezvous at a. motel and start seeing each other that way.
I ask remember verifying the pay phone number to the lady and I also remember the hand raising while on the phone while she could watch from her incall.
Do other scenarios were:
She could see at the pay phone and she would ask what are you wearing for clothes.
I also remember describing your clothes and she would come to the pay phones and she would then walk you back to her incall.
I always wondered how it worked before cell phones. Wasn’t the street walker scene much better too? Nothing like it is today.
I remember getting pager numbers from strippers at CL or Cheaters if sex wasn’t available in the VIP. You would have to find a pay phone to call the pager for an address.
