So I have a question, mainly for the gentlemen.

Should a provider who has been in the hobby 2+ years and has the same name as another provider who has been around longer change her stage name?

The reason I ask is I am being confused with her and she has received emails meant for me as well.

I should mention that we do not look alike, are not in the same age bracket and also not in the same donation bracket.

How would you feel about this? Would you have a problem with it? Would you want to know why she changed her name?

Thank You.

Unless you really, really like dealing with the confusion, I say announce the name change and the reason for it and go from there.  Your reasoning will persist on the net and in the "community mind".

I know a few ladies that have changed names. As long as TER keeps the reviews with the old name as part of the new name it is ok with me!

I think a simple explanation on your website would go a long way to getting the change accepted.  I agree work with TER and any others on the change so you can keep continuity with your friends and acquaintances.

If you arrived on the scene after the other provider, your name change might even be seen as an act of goodwill.

If you change your name there will inevitably be people who will speculate as to why you did it.  As long as you have reviews up it should be ok.  I would say that if the issue is causing confusion for you, and possibly a loss of business, you should go ahead and change it.

She won't see any drop in her business for doing so, in my case I saw the demand increasing because my new name sounds much more professional.

Yes, people will always speculate why she changed her name, as long as the reviews with the old name are attached to her new name they won't have much problem with it.

But then the old name will always be attached to her profile, so I still think you girls will have problems.

What I suggest is doing just I slight change.
Example:
If you are "Jane 2nite" and She is "Fun With Jane"
I would suggest Jane LaRue & Jade Jane or something else.
One keeps the name as her first name, and the other find another first name to go along with the name that is causing problems.

I would ask, is this problem bothering just you or is this bothering both of you?
Because I don't think it's fair that only she changes her name because she hasn't been around as long as you have been.

I know that myself and others realize the distinct differences in the two of you, but I can see where others may see you as the same person.

Both of you have good reviews and are considered upstanding providers. I don't see any reason why a name change would cause any issues. It is a valid reason, and I would expect that ter would be cooperative in your effort and allow you to keep your reviews and everything else. Precedent has been set with other ladies.

I apologize if my assumption of your true board identity is incorrect. No offense intended.

I chose Ally Moore because Ally is a variation of my real middle name and Moore sounded...well, whore-ey to me when I began.

Unbeknownst to me there was already a popular, established PSE/Porn star provider also in the Atlanta market named Alana Moore with quite a following due to her movies and service.
She's also brown, in her twenties and has a medium build with a signature big ass (lol).

I have taken care not to tour the DC market which she frequents as well during the same dates because of our similarities out of courtesy and respect to her.

I've regretted not having changed my name in 2006 when I discovered my faux pas and was still unestablished.

At this point I cannot or rather simply don't want to alter my identity (having changed my name twice in 2007 to go UTR briefly, I felt lost without my known name).

However, if Alana ever wrote to me and said that it was cramping her style I would look for a solution similar to the one offered by JustYourAverageProvider.
If it is a matter of a simple first name then you could alter it by associating it with a new last name or the area that you service.

If you are who I think you are, I think that your names and identities are pretty distinct and despite being newer you are now established in your own right.
Its not as though its especially confusing like San Francisco's beautiful Nicole Kelly who visits Boston several times a year and my best friend in the business, Nicole Kelly of ExceedYourFantasies.com who provides on the South Shore or Legendary Bebedoll of Chicago and the equally well-known Bebedoll Samantha in Florida.  Even so, I could see the value in you further defining your name and brand with a little modification while you can still do it though.

Good luck!  I hope the responses offer you a clear sense of whether alteration of your name is useful.

Ally

PS - *kisses* if we chatted on the phone the other day; you're such a sweet lady.

If so, and you both agree, perhaps you could each simply add a last name to what you're already using.

We are often confused as George Clooney and Brad Pitt. When seen together, people think Hollywood must be filming Ocean's 14.

WOW!!!  You are guys are really smart to figure out it was me!  lol

Yes I go by Crystal Love and then there is Crystal for Fun.  Lately the amount of emails confusing the 2 of us is has really got me thinking about a name change.

When I chose Crystal Love I just thought it sounded good. I didn't even know about TER when I first bagan and I did not know there was already a Crystal.

Thank you for everyone's input. I really appreciate it.

there once was a well-known lady around here (an old friend of crystal's, I think) who had a name that was becoming popular with at least one other provider...she may have been the 1st, but decided to change her name anyway. She went from 'melinda" to "melanie (melanie love, actually)", thereby keeping her nickname 'mel', and as far as I know, it didn't hurt her one bit.

How about "Christy" (anybody remember GET CHRISTY LOVE??), "Crissey", "Crista"... or "Chrysanthemum"?

A Christina Love just visited here a week or so ago. Not sure how Christy Love would go over, as only us geezers would recognize the name, and I fail to see any resemblance between the two!

We are discussing the wonderful marketing behind that. !!!!
It would only be fitting to retire Crystal For Fun the same year Bruschi retired.

LIKE?!!! Eng, do a search and find the thread when he announced his retirement. Crystal pretty much LOVES all of the Pats and Bruschi just may have been on the top of the list. He was (and still is) a great man.
