Burbs hotels just south of the city (Quincy, Randolph, Rockland, etc) are perfect for me. I don't mind driving in to the city, but the drive out is a huge pain
I think the suburbs are more convenient. There is normally cheaper, easier parking and you don't have to fight as much traffic. I work and live in the suburbs so this influences my vote of course!
I suspect you will get answers that are all over the place. For me the "burbs" work better. I work in the Waltham area, and a trip into Boston is (at best) 30 minutes (assuming little traffic *ROFLMFAO*) but more likely 45 minutes. So you figure 1 hour in, 1 hour out, plus what ever the appt length is (usually 2 for me) so your talking 4 hours away from work for me. Were as if it's in the burbs, the drive is substantially less so that works out better for me.
Burbs without question. I think most people who work in Boston live outside of Boston. For me, I travel all over but the extra cost and headache of parking aren't worth the trip in. Just my two cents.
Awesome the burbs have always worked for me... I have rarely gotten a Gentleman who wouldn't come because he preferred downtown. If it's broke I guess don't fix it.
Only went into Boston once to see someone. Despite the fact she was awesome I refuse to go back into town. I hope she tries the burbs soon !! As others have said, it can more than double the commute, parking is hard to find and big $$ when you do, cost of rooms must be higher in town as well.
