A friend of mine just told me that Uber is sending out emails to their drivers to watch for signs of "human trafficking" and to report anything suspicious. Considering Uber's ability to monitor your activity, and track your location, it's probably not a good idea for providers to use Uber for anything business related. Better to find a local car service and contact them directly.

Most folks are foolish enough to leave the GPS locator active on their cell phone as well. This is how they build a profile through data mining. They can anticipate your daily routine, where you frequently go, etc.

Not that it matters much, your cell phone pings towers all the time and that data is not protected.

Welcome to big brother is watching.

Or any building other than a hotel. Honestly I'm realizing in the area someone woukd have to act like a real idiot to draw attention to themselves. Look like a professional and the hotels or anyone else for that matter better worry about getting sued for false accusations. Look like a hooker with a deli line out your door then I guess they asked for an issue.

Good morning.  I drive for part time for Uber and have done so for the past 2 1/2 years.  I haven't received any email (or text) from Uber regarding this issue.  However, there may be one forthcoming.

As always (and obviously) the providers should make sure their safety is a top priority.

But if I was why would I care if I picked up a lady that looked like she might be an escort, I would think that most guys don't give a shit and may even think that its a turn on.
Yes you can get dropped off at the nearest restaurant but if you have a suitcase with you, isn't that going to look weird.

I used uber couple times and few of the drivers make too many questions, probably because they are bored, trying to "chit-chat" to be friendly. Problem is when ladies share too much. I never let them drop me off at the exact location, instead a block away or the restaurant or store next. Same when I get picked up.
There was a case in New York I believe that a younger (underage) was actually rescue because the uber driver notice her behavior and also listen the conversation of her pimp.

... but it's not always possible to be dropped off somewhere else. For example, I often do outcalls outside of Boston at night. It's not unusual at all for there to be nothing open within walking distance of hotels or private residences outside of Boston. The hotels in Woburn are a great example.

Plus because I'm so small, people often think I'm a lot younger than I am. Even in heels I'm barely over 5' tall.

I drove for Uber for over a year and recently stopped. i never got an email or message regarding trafficing, but it looks like they did send out a notice.

As an uber driver, they rarely communicate with you via email. It is usually a text, or a note pops up when you have the driver app on. Usually, they are notices on upcoming road closures, heads up on events, notices about driver incentives, etc.

I didn;t get it, but in reading a drivers forum, it looks like they sent out the following at some point, recently. This isn't the full message, but you get the idea.

More of a public service message and less of a concerted effort. Ladies, I wouldn't worry about it!
