As you've probably noticed by now, TER has a new look and a new feel to it.

There are some good things, and some bad things IMO about the new site.  The moderators have had their say... now it's time for yours.  Admin has asked for feedback.  Please post your comments in this thread and they will be collected and sent back to admin.

A few things to note:

 - Yes, we know the "View All" function is missing.  It will be back soon.
 - Your comments may be edited for brevity or clarity.
 -  All comments about the new site: features missing, things broken, and things that work better are all welcome.  Comments about policies and practices are not.  This thread is ONLY about the new look and feel of TER.  Posts on other topics may be deleted.

Thank you! Totally agree....way too small and on my netbook...forget about it, its already smaller to begin with.
I thought I was going blind. lol

I agree with you Jill, the font is too small.

dido i agree with jill the font is very hard on the eyes!

I agree with Jill, as I usually do.  I knew I did not like the new format, when I read her post I had to agree that must be it.

I'm using the original Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, running stock Android 1.6.  The new site crashes the browser, as Rpm2007 said (and he has a significantly more powerful phone/computer).  The mobile site still works, but only provides access to reviews, not discussion groups, so it is much less useful for deciding who to book with in a given week.

Also, no HTML tags?  No BB code tags?  No tags of any kind?  This is a bit restrictive, but I guess I can live with it.  I can still quote previous posts as above.  But bold, underline and bullets would be nice.  Welcome to 1993!

It is the first thing I noticed and is coming up from a lot of people. Each page should be indexed by when the thread started, and not by last post. The way it is now, people will knowingly or unkowingly "bump" threads to the top of the page whenever a reply is posted. Most people will want to see threads in chronological order, especially at the beginning of the week, when seeing local and traveling ladies post their schedule. Indexing by last posted reply will cause threads to get buried or missed for lack of activity on that thread

Sadly TER says the classic version will continue to be available only temporarily.
I wish they would keep both versions forever.
But I guess you can't please both Greeks and Trojans.

I love it when a woman use those two words in the same sentence

not sure how long it'll be available
classic TER

I will say that most people hit it right on the head.
Small fonts,
Color is too light
Posting order is whacked
Need a magnifying glass to read just about anything.

Have not idea why they have the column titled Last Post. Seems pretty useless to me.
just tell you the post title which you can already see, who posted and the time.

Still need to open the post to see what the person said.

i very much enjoyed using TER on my blackberry,i prefered it over TER mobile, but the new TER does not work well with blackberry.

Go back to the old one

Too many clicks and hard to navigate, preferred old format.

Jack

Plain and simple, nothing wrong with the old format why not stick with it???

Honestly, this is pretty darn plain and simple in terms of web design.  Usability is a bit better than the older design, which quite frankly, from a usability standpoint in some aspects, was becoming very antiquated.

I wish there is a popular site that can challenge TER; this sucks !!!!

Keep the OLD one. Much easier to get around.

at the bottom of each post it say quote or reply, they seem to do the same thing?

its a go for me!!! no complaints

at the bottom when I click on "return to message board" it takes me to the top of the page. I liked the old way where I was taken to the last message I was reading so I can continue to browse the board.

Like anything new it will just take some time to get used to the new format and work out the bugs. The old board was kind of primitive.

This new format sux big time. Hard to navigate,
hurts my eyes, more clicks to get to the same
place. Two thumbs down. Not an improvement at
all. TER going back to the stone age with this
one. It wasn't broke, so better to have left
it alone. Scrap this idea ASAP.

I agree with many people: default font is a bit too small and difficult to read.  Otherwise it's a pretty good layout.  I haven't had too much time to get used to it, but so far, so good.

Seems like BB Code is implemented better as well.

I love it. Way better than the old site in terms of functionality.

Only complaint is on the font size.

I would suggest that you also cull the thoughts from the other threads that deal with the "New TER."  Several people will probably believe they have already registered their thoughts and opinions.

Terrible. Does NOT WORK with software intended to make for "safer" surfing (proxies; cookies; anonymous browsing; filters; etc.). Pop-ups and drop-downs don't work at all, e.g., Board drop-downs on the Discussions page.

Change for the sake of change is not good.

This is terrible. Was just about to re-up my VIP status, but think I'll wait in hopes that someone comes to their senses here.

Don't ask me why. I just don't like the new design. The designer of the site should be fired.

Why are older post show in front of newer post, example a post made on the 8th is showing in front of post made on the 10th.

Because the date you're looking at is when the thread was created.  If someone posts a response, the thread moves to the top supposedly to indicate that there's something new posted to the thread.
If you look at the right of the screen, there should be a column labeled "Last Post".  In that column should be the header, poster, and date/time of the most recent post to the thread.

The icons on the left side are also supposed to be meaningful. I've figured out that one icon means that the thread is new, one icon means that the post that started the thread is an ad, and one icon means that there's a new message in the thread.  At the bottom of the screen there should be a little "key" that indicates that one icon means that the message was posted less than 24 hours ago, another icon indicates that it was posted between 24&48 hours ago, and another icon indicates that the message is older than 48 hours.  But, beyond that, I haven't a clue.  I think I've seen other icons but I could have been hallucinating - the color scheme seems to have that effect on me. :-)

Oh, and the color of the subject header of a post appears to change to a yucky orange if you've read the post.

There's also a little icon that looks something like a paperclip that appears next to the subject header that is supposed to indicate that the post has a link.  But, they failed to distinguish between a regular link to another site, and a picture link so the paperclip icon will appear if either one is in the post.

Hopefully this helps...

Thank you Mr French. It does make sense as we know we spend more time looking at responses than some new threads.

but are you intending to make a view all button available? I am not going through each post and individually clicking them to research if this has been asked.
Also, the posts that have recently been selected appear at the top; I'm sure you know this already too.

Thanks.

Posts that have recent replies move to the top.  They are calling this a "feature".  That way, you don't have to go through pages and pages of old posts to find a new post/comment in a thread.

As for "view all", it's there.  If you open a thread and look to the right of the header of the first message, you'll see "View: tree | flat".  If you select "flat" you view the entire thread the same as the old "view all".  If you select "tree" you go back to the three structure.

However, be warned: it's a little flaky.  If you're used to the headers changing colors to show the threads that you've already read (like I do) switching modes between "flat" and "tree" screws it all up and the colors revert to the standard "not viewed" color for all threads.  Sometimes if you switch back to the other mode and choose "Return to forum" it'll reset back so that the messages will show a different color again if you've viewed them.  Sometimes it doesn't work.

Isn't this fun? :-)

I would like to see the print larger. I think it also be great to be able to sort your favoriyes into categories (ie: traveling, local, milf, agency etc). Also in the favotives section it would be nice to be able to put a brief note that would be visible while looking at the complete list and without having to enter the providers profile. As an example: next to the providers name you could put "in town 9/1-5".

Someone would acknowledge the complaints/issues/suggestions. (I’m not talking about the post that just says IT SUCKS and the like)

There are many Legitimate and substantive complaints/issues/suggestions on most if not all the general and regional boards, and if admin would respond to those with a reply that they acknowledge the issue and will consider change or change is in the works or they are working on the issue.

Also a few weeks ago it was posted that new stuff (I paraphrase) is on the way, then suddenly we sign on and there it is, no notice that on a particular date the new site will be on line.

Perhaps also if there was an explanation of all the changes, and  additions, reasons for each change and addition we will better understand and maybe even BITCH less.

I am sorry to say that admin does a very poor job of communicating with us, and this is not the first time.

Talk To Us Please - Keep Us Informed - Updates Please.

Thank you
2010 = 28

The new version is harder to read and harder to navigate.  I spend about a third as much time on this site as I used to...

With the new format, I was hoping for something new and exciting, quite frankly put a fork in it......

The emoticons, I can't tell which is which, other than the deviled horned red one......

The font is much smaller, I suppose I just need to get better glasses.

The order of the posts is inconsistant at best, I was under the impression that if someone posted last that post would move to the top of the stack, I haven't seen that happen in many cases.  The tree format was best for scanning quickly at what you want to read.

This is a total waste of time now........

And no, if this post gets deleted AGAIN, I didn't ask for that to happen......it is funny that there are so many village drunks who can post what they wantand it is ok, but when someone makes a coherent comment it gets deleted.....

First thing to the designers and programmers: Put yourself in our shoes. Write your code and test with cell phones, crippled browsers on old machines that we hope noone will use or look at, proxy services, anonymizers, and so on. Many of us cannot use TER as if it was yahoo or google. Basically, keep the GUI as fast and simple as possible.

My number one beef: The Board drop downs do NOT work with my software. (I'm using a different, "dangerous" computer to post this.) Just make them PLAIN LINKS (eg, Regional Boards) to a page of options (eg cities). The OLD (Classic) TER Regional Boards menu DID work for me.

Thank you.

Initial impression, New TER is terrible.

It does not appear to offer anything of value based on my use of it.  TER has been tailing off considerably on the value of Board postings for the past few years.  It now seems solely ladies posting their schedules.  It reminds me of the demise of another Board that preceded TER.

The Reviews are what have continued to make it relevant as a source of information.

However, the new format seems to add little or no value to improving the navigation of the TER site.

It appears that the change is solely for change sake with no overriding value added.

Simply put its substance over style. Sure there is a point where a page is to busy, but this format sacrifices content and flow for an artsy presentation. The "classic" style was a much better balance.  This format wastes about 40% of the page. I also second the comment about the font. Very clean but very small.
