I went to one recently in another region which was so clandestine that  no reference could be found of it anywhere-yet it had a few dozen visible & popular board attendees and was a great deal of fun.

In my former market M&Gs are invitation only and guests are screened; I tend to think that this is the trend on the East Coast where a series of unfortunate events has required the secrecy.

Trust me: this isn't a bad thing.  Though the Boston market has seemingly had few blips in terms of compromised identities security isn't something that you would like to be lax in terms of public meetings  of hobbyists and providers.

With that being said, if you would like to attend one that isn't wrangled up by the usual suspects its always best to just throw out your idea for your own "happy hour" as apposed to complaining about the ruling class.  Those who don't mind a public one will come...and those who prefer a veiled, private affair will look for an in via PM or through their favorite provider/hobbyist.

Perhaps there are others that feel excluded.  

By all means, organize your own M&G.

But please, stop whining.  Its very unappealing

Secure, safe, and discreet are the utmost concerns and unfortunately trade-offs occur. Follow this link... How can anyone continue to bitch about this presumed exclusivity is beyond me.
