Ladies he is Not the only nut job out there please be safe.

From Yahoo article.   Could not right click on the photos so you'll have to go to the article.

I've read all kind of information as he was engaged, med student, and only 23 years old.
It's hard to imagine what really drove him into those insane acts and thinking he could get away with it... and the fact is, he could have got away with it if he didn't kill that girl. Yes, two other girls reported being robbed but it was his murder that really brought media an attention and the arrest.
How many of us got close to dangerous situation being in this business and actually reported authorities? Similar incident happen to a friend of mine years ago in NYC, she even verified the guy that he worked at a bank. However, she has no other proof but herself to prove his robbery and if she wanted to report his crime, she would have to come out clean to the police that she's an escort advertise on Eros. Of course she kept her mouth shut.
I personally had a first timer freaked out on my domination even though that was what he asked for, in addition of stuck of psychos wanting to "challenge" me for being a dominatrix.

He looks like such a normal preppy guy. It gives me a creep.

I have only once been in a situation in this business where I have had to "put someone in their place"  defusing a situation is best if possable and even with the best screening you may still end up in a situation where you need to put your foot down and defuse things b4 it gets to that point. screen well gals and listen to your intuition, its almost always right.

HE HAS COPING ISSUES

ISSUES COPING WITH BEING LET DOWN/THINGS NOT GOING HIS WAY OR  AND REJECTION

It goes to show you that murder has no prejudice to class, race or age Angela

While this guy might have went on to become as bad as Bundy had he not been caught, Bundy had no other motivation other than wanting to murder innocent people. This scum in Boston was at least partially, if not totally motivated, by an addiction to gambling. Robbery was the motive and it led to murder.

He still needs to fry in the electiric chair just as Bundy did, but alas Mass doesn't have the death penalty.

It's incredible that someone bright enough to get into med school can be so stupid.  What goes on in a mind like that?  What kind of a twisted nutcase is he?
He is another great arguement in favor of capital punishment, and if they want someone to flio the switch or push the needle or whatever they do these days, I would gladly volunteer.  Unfortunately that won't happen in Mass., but concentual transactions between adults are still illegal!

doesn't mean he isn't crazy

He's not only crazy, he's just plain stupid!

I'm shocked he was 1) in med. school and 2) he was only 22. Amazing. He's going to have a tough time claiming he was crazy or something.

Big difference between book smart and common sense and just giving a basic sh*t about humanity outside your little cliques and circles.

And he is crazy, utterly crazy.  Being a sociopath is about the furthest reaches of crazy, look at the diagnostic codes.  If most of us shot and killed someone, our adrenaline would be coursing through us, our hearts pumping like mad, we'd be sweating, running this way and that - in short, freaking completely the f*ck out.

This guy on the other hand:  calmly walking through the lobby texting.  And when they catch him:  driving calmly with his "take" toward a casino.  Gonna do him some gambling.  Maybe get a scotch on the rocks and sit a spell.

And as far as his "double life" is concerned, it's not as double as people think.  Narcissists and sociopaths have NO emotion - not the good ones, not the bad ones, just not any ones.  They feel NOTHING.  They do, however, figure out that they're supposed to get the status girlfriend, the status house, the status car, etc, and they figure out the way to act is the way they see people in movies act.  This ass didn't love his naive girlfriend.  He loved no one.  He will also never feel any remorse, any more than he felt any empathy.  He simply feels nothing.  Easiest way to produce a kid like that?  Put him on a pedastal and give him anything his little spoiled heart desires.  Raise him to believe that there's a difference between your class and other classes.  He probably went into med school because he was expected to go to med school, not because he had any burning need to "heal" people.  And mommy and daddy may well have made big "donations" to get him in there, anyway.

Wow I have not used that in years!

Ted Bundyish!  Just glad he was caught!

Everyone be more aware, girls screen, guys understand safety first. It will be tougher for newbies as personal references are my preferred. Ladies if they give you me as a reference call me anytime!

Anti-social disorder
Etiology

This disorder was previously known as both psychopathic and Sociopathic personality disorder.  Like most personality disorders, there are many factors that may contribute to the development of symptoms.  Because the symptoms are long lasting, the idea that symptoms begin to emerge in childhood or at least adolescence is well accepted.  The negative consequences of such symptoms, however, may not show themselves until adulthood.

Research has shown that a large percentage of individuals with this disorder have recognizable behaviors prior to age 15.  These behaviors include difficulty with authority, legal altercations, cruelty to animals, fire setting, and a dislike or anger toward authority.  This disorder is diagnosed much more frequently in males.

Symptoms

The symptoms of antisocial personality disorder include a longstanding pattern (after the age of 15) of disregard for the rights of others.  There is a failure to conform to society's norms and expectations that often results in numerous arrests or legal involvement as well as a history of deceitfulness where the individual attempts to con people or use trickery for personal profit.  Impulsiveness if often present, including angry outbursts, failure to consider consequences of behaviors, irritability, and/or physical assaults.

Some argue that a major component of this disorder is the reduced ability to feel empathy for other people.  This inability to see the hurts, concerns, and other feelings of people often results in a disregard for these aspects of human interaction.  Finally, irresponsible behavior often accompanies this disorder as well as a lack of remorse for wrongdoings.

Treatment

Treatment for this disorder is very rarely sought.  There is a limited amount of insight into the symptoms, and the negative consequences are often blamed on society.  In this sense, treatment options are limited.  Some research has found long term insight oriented therapy to be effective, but getting the individual to commit to this treatment is a major obstacle.

Prognosis

Prognosis is not very good because of two contributing factors.  First, because the disorder is characterized by a failure to conform to society's norms, people with this disorder are often incarcerated because of criminal behavior.  Secondly, a lack of insight into the disorder is very common.  People with antisocial personality disorder typically see the world as having the problems, not him or herself, and therefore rarely seek treatment.  If progress is made, it is typically over an extended period of time.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Etiology

Like most personality disorders, there are many factors that may contribute to the development of symptoms.  Because the symptoms are long lasting, the idea that symptoms begin to emerge in childhood or at least adolescence is well accepted.  The negative consequences of such symptoms, however, may not show themselves until adulthood.

Symptoms

The symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder revolve around a pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and sense of entitlement. Often individuals feel overly important and will exaggerate achievements and will accept, and often demand, praise and admiration despite worthy achievements.  They may be overwhelmed with fantasies involving unlimited success, power, love, or beauty and feel that they can only be understood by others who are, like them, superior in some aspect of life.

There is a sense of entitlement, of being more deserving than others based solely on their superiority.  These symptoms, however, are a result of an underlying sense of inferiority and are often seen as overcompensation.  Because of this, they are often envious and even angry of others who have more, receive more respect or attention, or otherwise steal away the spotlight.

Prognosis

Prognosis is limited and based mainly on the individual's ability to recognize their underlying inferiority and decreased sense of self worth.  With insight and long term therapy, the symptoms can be reduced in both number and intensity.

To nevernonpro: how do you know so much about narcissists and sociopaths? Many thanks.

I've had the pleasure of knowing a few.

Text text, rob a call girl, text text, go to class at your expensive school, text text, fuck your clueless but relatively hot fiance, text text kill a masseuse, text text head to the casino to blow off some steam.  Calm as a cucumber.  Because he simply doesn't give a shit.  A narcissist or sociopath usually doesn't look dirty or angry like a "common" criminal.  They're clean and presentable for the very fact that they aren't burdened by something as messy and prohibitive as actual emotion.  I love how people are waiting for him to "flinch" in court for some reason.  There is no emotion in a person like this.  He smiles on cue.  He's nothing more than a mannequin who puts on the right show at the right time.  Does a seriously sad situation call for appropriate emotion?  Well, he doesn't have any actual feelings, so cue the physical manifestations of emotion that he's seen in other people, puppy dog eyes maybe, or that look of concern he saw that actor use on CSI that time...  Meanwhile thinking "Jesus I wish this was over so I could get back to the game."  Yes, I know that a lot of guys think that say to SOME degree, but this guy really wouldn't care if his fiance were run over by a truck in front of him.  He would THINK it sucked because his whole image wouldn't be complete without all the proper tools in place, the trophy wife being one of the accoutrements.  He just wouldn't FEEL anything.

Sam Vankin's stuff is all over the internet with a quick Google search, or just search for narcissist.  There's a certain percentage of the population that's always estimated is completely devoid of emotion and conscience, but I forget the figure.  Higher than a lot of obscure things that people worry about catching or dealing with, though, are your chances of meeting one of these heart-dead zombies.  And I'm convinced with the way the world is going that the percentage is going up and up every year - just look at the proliferation of heartless scammers like Bernie Madoff and the CEOs and, oh just off the top of my head, entire administrations willing to throw away the children of thousands of Americans and Iraqis in a human chess game.  Then chuckle about how Trent Lott's porch sure will be nice to sit on to have a drink when that messy hurricane business is all over with.  Or mommy saying "Why should I waste my beautiful mind looking at dead soldiers" or "well, the Superdome is a step up in conditions for these people".

Why I've adopted our board as my new home?

I have a policy to not get involved in a conversation unless it has actual value.  The endless flirty "hi, I've got new pics, I was soaping myself in the tub and my girlfriend came in and we couldn't help ourselves" thing just isn't my style.  I follow the rules, which is to post an ad once a week, and I don't try to get around them with answering conversational threads with pics of myself and tacking flirty phrases onto serious comments.  I'm not an ass kisser or a clique follower or any of the other things you have to do to be "popular" on TER, so yes, I'm able to speak freely during this horrible situation with an alias.  I'd be nitpicked to death with my handle.  I know all about TER, this isn't a "new" board or one that I'm unfamiliar with at all.

I've temporarily gotten heavily involved in a conversation because, if you hadn't noticed, a girl was killed fairly recently.  My reasons for posting should be fairly obvious.
