here are places I go back to time after time:

In Back Bay, Sorellinas - fine upscale Italian. The veal chop and the meat balls are fantastic.
In the North End, Francescas, classic Italian and a great atmosphere.
For seafood, the Chart House on Long Wharf
For inexpensive seafood, the No Name in the Seaport District.
Standard American fare - Ruth's Chris on School Street near Beacon Hill.

Over priced places to avoid: (All in the Seaport District, for some reason):

Ocean Prime
Del Frisco's
Mortons.

The Ocean Prime on Tampa is fantastic...

Both the lounge area and the dining room. I wonder if the one in Boston is owned by the same people. I'm thinking it is!

Yum! Im a foodie too...

I really enjoyed Island Creek Oyster Bar last time I visited.

I will have to check out a few of these places next week.

ah!

I might be dating myself...but i miss the Sorrelino, Mistral and Federalist trio...are all 3 still going? (had a wonderful gent "blow an inheritance check on a crazy evening" date way back when......

Sorellina and mistral are still around and i think going strong. Inhave nt been to eother in years. Federalist been gone for a long time. That was a crowded room at its height.

Food has improved alot over the past 10 years. Alot is of mediocre with good addresses are too expensive but its still greatly improved.
