I'm in the same boat: have tried e-mails to several local ladies (RI), and not one response. Tried applying for Date-Check, referencing TBD experience from 2007, citing one lady not around that I know of, and one lady who's still around. Never got a response from Date-Check either. Even gave dates of TER reviews for both ladies, and my user name at the time (still on TER).
Mid evening last night, I finally got on TBD website (had tried unsuccessfully several times over past few months), and filled out an online appointment request. Still no response all day. I tried calling their number, and message said they were closed for the day. WTF?
Was active hobbyist for 3 years or so, and never a problem, so I know it's not me.
I understand things have changed, but hobbying seems to have become a non-option for some from the recent past.
