Hey girls and boys,
What's your feeling on social media? Does it make a difference in in marketing yourself or is it a time waster?  How many of you use it?

I find it to be a big waste of time

It is for people who have narcissistic tendencies.

Do I really need to know what you doing ever minute of everyday????

For example
You went out for lunch, do I really need to know that,  Millions of people do it everyday and they don't post about it.
Ask yourself, Why is so important that you post about it??  
Is the fact that you went out to lunch going to improve people lives??
Is the world a better place because of it??

As for marketing, I don't see the plus side of it, unless you want to be the next Kim Kardashian.
(Remember her claim to fame was she did an amateur porn video)  
Guys will see you if they want to, whether your on social media or not.

 
Social media is also a great way to let your stalkers (if you have any) know where you are all the time.
I'm sure they very happy about that to.  

 
If you haven't figured it out yet, I don't use social media.

Big waste of time

I followed a few ladies on twitter and just kept receiving useless endless tweets. I had to unfollow them.

Some other factors to think about

The cons of social media have been well laid out and I agree 100% of those points raised.

I also want to point out that there could be a difference in terms of the age groups, some might be more receptive than others.

It is wonderful to see what you are like and perhaps would help break ice and or have more in depth conversations when meeting you.

So it depends on what type of clients/friends you want to attract and for them to be able to get to know you and potentially sustain their interest in the long term

Total waste of time

If where strictly talking about marketing in this hobby, its a waste of time, most guys use either this site or P411 to find the ladies, I know that's all I use and between those 2 sites, there's way more ladies than I can shake my dick at..  :

As with everything else, it depends on how you use it.

I love our Twitter peeps. We have great conversations. We share pics we wouldn't put up elsewhere. It's a lot of fun.

I think it's great!

I like it both for the marketing aspect and a glimpse inside the personality of the escort.  I find it useful to find out about tour dates, if they're friends with escorts I've seen, possible duos, etc.  Also it's great for longer date ideas, knowing what they like to eat, or wear for gifts, plus all the hot selfies!

For discretion, I'm unable to follow anyone, but I like to check their feed once in a while.  I find it a great way to connect, if done well by the escort, like any other smart business owner.

I think it gives guys a chance to know a little more about your personality. Plus a chance to see more casual pics that I wouldn't use on my webpage, or ads. I can't say if it directly gets me any appointments, but it may help influence some guys.

"Social Media: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE that it is" is my standard subject line on this topic.

Some have said here that it is a waste of time.

It has the potential to be FAR WORSE than merely a waste of time. SM can result in public exposure of your real ID, direct links to people you know in other areas of your life, etc.

Remember, the stated purpose of the SM giants is to connect everyone (and all of their disparate personae and IDs) whether they want to be connected or not.
 
Do not fool yourself into thinking that you are safe. They (FB, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, et al.) use every bit and byte to try to track you and connect every piece of your life or lives together.  
 
Search Newbie and General for "nefarious tentacles pernicious" [any of these words] for the past year or more for multiple threads on the hazards of social media

I just checked out your Twitter Feed,  

Let see the first photo is you getting dinner, then you getting coffee, at Five guys, in front of a a liquor store (will give you credit for this one, It was funny.)

Not sure where I've posted the same pic more than once... ok, looks like Slixa reposted one of my pics under my account. Didn't know they could do that... Other than that I don't see any posted more than once.

The better question would be how many guys just checked out my twitter because of this post, and are now interested in seeing me? ;)

I do agree that it's better to actually spend time with someone, but the goal of all marketing (including social networking) is to reach that point

I am all-in on social media!

Let's not forget, even a message board such as this one is indeed a form of social media! It's not a one-way platform, but is two-way digital online interaction. Seeing different ladies' and gents' responses and reactions on the TER boards reveals a little about whether we'd be a good match for one another, as can other more mainstream social media platforms.

The older crowd may not get it at scale quite yet (which is fine--such is life in every generation) but it does allow someone, somewhere to feel like they got to be a part of someone else's day even if it's just a 140 character tweet's worth.  If you read a tweet that says I love trying new wines that pair well with tacos, well now we have the start of a pretty unique date night!  

We are a part of the same society who shamelessly indulge in reality TV. Unlike those Hollywood celebs that will always be on the other side of the screen, we ladies are easily accessible to spend time with in real life. And I dare say I think a lot of us are way more interesting than Kim Kardashian.

And as far as whether it works or not--I have found that I have a much better time with the guys who said they first found me on Twitter then checked out my site and booked. I would guess it's because I'm young and they're at least mentally "plugged in" aka hip. These numbers aren't huge yet because building a following takes time. There is a lot of noise and uselessness on the internet as a whole. But, I'm 100% on board with social.

How important is your anonymity? That's the question

The risk with SM is what Impposter posted. The goal of SM is to make connections. The problem arises when you access SM from the same IP address or same device in both this world any your real life. Take Twitter (which is for sale btw). If I access Twitter to follow my favorite lady here using my home IP address, Twitter knows that I (Dryver8) am from IP address xxx.xxx.xx.x. Tomorrow if I log into Twitter as me (real name/real life screen name, let's call me John Smith), using the same network Twitter connects both Dryver8 and John Smith to xxx.xxx.xx.x. Do that a couple times, Twitter concludes that Dryver8=John Smith. If your Twitter talks to Facebook, Instagram,Linked In, Snapchat, pretty soon their software connects Dryver8=John Smith.  The same is happening to my lady friend "ClassyProvider". In short time, SM concludes Dryver8=John Smith who knows ClassyProvider and that ClassyProvider = Jane Smith. What's next? SM connects John Smith to Jane Smith and you each appear, unknowingly, to the others person as a potential connection. You are no longer anonymous. Do you care about that? Seems like the majority of us do.  

If you ONLY use SM here and never IRL, you'll probably be fine. The corollary is true. If you switch between the two, it's only a matter of time before your real identity will be revealed to a client or provider or your friends/connections will see links to providers or clients.  

SM is rather the opposite of anyone who is trying to stay anonymous.  

Unless you do everything behind a VPN or TOR, the connection WILL be made eventually.
