I'm an old Boston hand, but even I was dumfounded when i looked at hotel rates for Sept 11-16--
basic three stars going for $350?

Is something going on that week??

I noticed this is becoming the new rate period out here... 250 - 400 ... when i first started touring here even a 4 to 5 star was under 200... Boston getting there too

The big convention halls are busy but so are the bigger downtown hotels. Mid September through October has gotten busier the last couple of years as the Boston area's economy has recovered a bit better than other parts of the country.

There has always been a shortage of rooms in the city but the rates you mentioned are definitely adventurous for 3 star properties!

You obviously were trying to book through BP of hotel listings  LOL

What $8K a night gets you in Boston: The Hub's 10 priciest luxury hotel suites
They all offer tons of floor space, top-of-the-line amenities, world-class service and commanding views. But it’s the price tag that separates the swankiest hotel suites in the Boston/Cambridge area from all the luxury suites – that, along with the privilege of being even able to afford spending the night in one of the most coveted rooms in the area.
A survey conducted by the Boston Business Journal Research Department of hotels here with a AAA four (luxury) and five-diamond rating (ultra luxury) found 10 of the more expensive rooms. With prices ranging from $2,000 to $8,000 per night before taxes for these showcase suites, we asked the hotels on our list for other juicy details about these very special rooms and exactly what their lucky guests get for the money.
